History

The Huskies lead this series 7-5-1. The first time the teams met, Gil Dobie was just finishing up an undefeated season. It was one of those games that just needed to be played to finish the season in 1915. The Huskies shut out the hapless Buffs 46 to nothing. Right now the Huskies currently have a 4 game winning streak, and look to make it five this week .

What They're Saying

No insults intended; this is really just some gameweek fun ... so have a laugh. These quotes were removed from any relevant context that would give them any logical sense .... These quotes are courtesy of the Ralphie Report and AllBuffs.com:

On the Outcome of the Game

I don’t think it’s that much of a toss-up. I think we cover the spread but I’m not smelling an upset.

Most likely not...

It's tough to hope for anything better than covering the spread

On Expectations for the rest of the season

This season, [covering the spread is] good enough for me. Next year we’re really gonna need some signature wins.

If we beat washington we might be able to win 2 of our last three and get a bowl game. A bowl game in MikeMac's first year would be huge.

On whether a basketball win over Baylor or a football win over UW would be bigger

would love to see the FB win, but I effing can't stand bailer and a win against the lying, cheating, murdering bible thumpers would make the weekend.

No question ... beating Bailer in hoops ...a win over the Huskies on the gridiron in Seattle would be as electrifying as it is unlikely, a win over them would be seen as a fluke, and justifiably so. A win over the Waco Whackos would affirm what we all hope for and expect of this team.

Frankly, I'll be disappointed with a basketball loss, while as long as the football team doesn't shut down, I'm good.

If we beat washington we might be able to win 2 of our last three and get a bowl game. A bowl game in MikeMac's first year would be huge.

... just in case you were wondering, the Buffs got smoked by Baylor last night 72-60 on a neutral court.

Questions Needing Answers

Offense: Will the offense come out of the gates firing on all cylinders ... or will it be the offense we've seen far too much of this year against inferior talent? How many yards will Bishop Sankey average per carry? How many Buffs does it take to tackle ASJ? Will the real KW replacement please stand up ... please stand up ... please stand up ...?

Defense: Can the Defense hold off the Buffs in the first half, allowing the Offense to run away with the game? How many sacks will Hau'oli Kikaha get this week? Will the rush defense hold the Buff's running game under 50 yards? How will our secondary handle P-Rich?

Miscellaneous: Do you think the Buffs picked a good league in which to attempt the mammoth rebuilding project they are currently attempting? Will the Student Section please show up? How much does Dubs weigh?

Conclusion

This two-game stretch against Cal and CU came at a great time, especially if you take the perspective of Keith Price's bum thumb. I have a difficult time seeing the Buffs stopping the UW run game. The problem comes in that of Paul Richardson. That kid is something else. He is very dangerous in the receiving game and the punt return game. I sure hope the Dawgs don't have to punt the entire first half, and perhaps triple team the guy, since the rest of the Buffalo offense has serious issues.

I see this game going the Dawgs' way, since it's a home game, they are coming off a bye week, and the Buffs have been brutalized for several weeks, not counting the game against Charleston Southern. They won't have an answer to Bishop Sankey, and just aren't fast enough at linebacker to compete with John Ross, Jaydon Mickens, and Marvin Hall. Final score: Huskies win 49-20.

Gameday Dots:
  • The Ralphie Report has a game preview for the game. If the Buffs receive the ball to start the second half, the Huskies need to look out.

Vegas Odds:
  • if you didn't watch that guy's video ... and I don't blame you if you didn't, the Dawgs opened as 28 point favorites in this game, and the over under is currently at 60.
Game Thread:

Come on over to the game thread to have a little bit of jovial banter with fellow Dawg fans, and the occasional troll. You'll be happy you did. It opens up an hour or so before game time.
