Huskies vs Cougars Second Half Gamethread

Steven Bisig-USA TODAY Sports

The Huskies played very poorly in the first half, and are lucky to only be trailing 10-3

The story of the first half was turnovers. They lead to all 10 of WSU's points, and erased a potential scoring opportunity for the Huskies.

Keith Price has not played well, but his receivers have not done a great job of getting open, resulting in a lot of scrambles for Price. This is when you'd like to see Sark go to the horizontal passing game (which has worked in the limited chances he's given it today) to get chunks of yards. Jaydon Mickens has no catches, which tells you how often they've done that.

Bishop Sankey has a very quiet 61 yards rushing, but the Huskies have been stuffed on too many runs for the run game to really get going like they'd like it to. The first half pass to rush ratio is a misleading 8:21, as many called passes have resulted in Price carries.

Hau'oli Kikaha was the player of the game in the first half, getting a couple of sacks. He and Cory Littleton are simply too quick for WSU's tackles, who are having to hold and grab to compensate.

The Huskies played almost as poorly as they could have (especially on offense) and are fortunate that they trail by just one score.
