Anyone up for the 2013 Class???
Here's an interview that was posted earlier this morning regarding none other than Max Browne. Thought you'd enjoy getting pumped about next year's class.

Be hard to land him
Unless he likes competition. He could be a star at home though. Thanks for the read!
Competition
Ideally if you are a QB you want to step into a position where you have the opportunity to compete and win a starting job by your second or third year.
Jake Locker had that opportunity and so did Keith Price facing virtually little competition when their numbers were called. I wouldn’t blame Max for looking seriously for that type of opportunity if it exists.
UW Dawg Pound - SBN Seattle
Max Browne
There’s almost 0% chance we get him. In fact Scott at Dawgman is hearing he’s about to commit soon to someone. Not sure who though.
that won't help the "fence" perception any...
…but as much as I’d like for Browne to be a Husky, there are always a lot of very good QB prospects on the West Coast and Sark has a great rep. Might have to focus on guys like Sefo Liufau and Kolney Cassel in state and Troy Williams out of state.
Maybe he'll go to Cal.
I wonder if that’d make them feel better.
That would make me laugh, if the bit about him having to compete is true.
He’d be behind that Kline kid who signed with Cal this year.

yeah, he'd have serious competition there
If Brown wants a high level program with less competition, he’s going to have to look for a program that hasn’t landed highly regarded QB’s in the last couple of classes. I don’t care enough to do that research for him, but I’m sure he’ll find a place that looks like it will provide an easier path to starting sooner.
Too bad he doesn’t seem to want to compete for the job at the UW and let the best man win…
We shall see.
I’m more inclined to keep an eye on who UW is targeting along the O-line and the D-line this upcoming year.

yep - very, very important
Need to get another NT or two, and keep re-stocking the OL. When Stanford & USC are loading up on premium beef, we need to keep up or keep seeing our defense get steam-rolled.
You mean Tedford can't hang his hat on one freakishly good player anymore
you know he was nothing before he transferred there right? Tedford built him from the ground up.
that's not really fair
Tedford had a long line of great QB products before Aaron Rodgers:
- Trent Dilfer
- David Carr
- Akili Smith
- Joey Harrington
- Kyle Boller
And while most of those guys weren’t much in the NFL, he got them there, and got most of them drafted very, very high. Keep in mind that Kyle Boller was kind of like Jake Locker in that he was a phenomenally talented QB that hadn’t proven much as a passer, and then Tedford arrived and quickly refined him into a high draft pick.
I have no idea why things have fallen off so much for him at QB since Rodgers, but let’s not pretend he didn’t earn his QB guru reputation up to that point.
I know
I just think it’s funny that the perception that he built Rodgers is the defining moment in his QB molding career, and he came in and played phenomenally his first year in the P10 . Dilfer and Carr didn’t dawn on me, I forgot he was at FSU. In defense of those who don’t think too highly of him, Trent Dilfer (yes, 70.2 carrer QB rating Trent Dilfer) is head and shoulders the best NFL QB on that list.
I'm visiting just to let you know I appreciate your effort & foresight;
I personally need a few months to recover from the excitement of the 2012 class.
I posted this partly as a joke
I can’t think of many people who don’t really want a break from recruiting for now, including the coaches, though their job description forces them to recruit all year long.

recruiting is year-round
Sark was joking Wednesday night about how Sirmon had already been locked up in his offices working on the 2013 class.
Yeah, 50 skype sessions already with potential 2013 players.
He’s been keeping pretty busy

not sure how UW could land this kid
we just signed two 4 star QB’s and Price could possibly be in Seattle for another 3 years. unless Max Browne is extremely confident in himself that he thinks he could beat out Miles and Lindquist, after they’ve been in the system a year, for the backup spot i think he’s leaving the state. hopefully Sark and Co. can pull out all the stops persuade him to be a Husky though.

pretty hard for Price to be here 3 more years...
…considering he was a RS-Sophomore this past season.
ha, yeah i was making sure you were paying attention.
hey, Juan Garcia was here for 6 years!

special circumstances :)
I think I speak for all of us when I say I hope Price doesn’t go through what Garcia did that enabled him to get a 6th year…
Norm Chow is busy
Fridays HNL paper talked about a good 2013 class on the islands and how busy Chow has been. He has 12-15 offers (unofficial until Aug 1) so far and has hit the local HSs much harder than the previous guys.
Alabama
Offered him and Nuss is there. He has to know Nuss. I would think they are one of the leaders. I am sure they have depth but the startes will be a junior.
A star QB needs to be
confident enough to think he can win a competition for a starting job.
Price will either be leaving early this year (not hard to imagine if he puts up similar numbers to this year and projects as a 1st rounder) or leaving next year, which means Browne could compete for a starting job either as a true freshman or (at the latest) as a RS FR.
If he doesn’t believe in himself enough to think he can out-compete Miles and Lindquist in practice, how does he expect to go compete against SEC (for example) defenses on game-day?
Show the talking heads who say you’ll flee the competition wrong, Max. Come in prepared to wrest the starting job away and be a star at home.
Somebody like Cyler MIles or Jeff Lindquist...
if he doesn’t want to be here…good riddence and good luck to ya. Unless you go to Oregon…then just good riddence.
I love Keith Price...
…but there is no chance he leaves early for the NFL unless he has some off-the-field reason for doing so. He lacks the size to impress NFL scouts, and while he’ll probably get a look in the NFL, he’s not going to impress them enough to make it worthwhile to leave school a year early.
