I think there's little doubt that the Dawgs' football program has a friend in the athletic director. It's been quite a while since we could say that. Woodward has stepped in it a time or two (the "cheap" comments about the stadium remodel, attacking Oregon's academics, etc.), but he definitely understands that football is how his bread is buttered. That's all you can really ask for at this point.
