This particular group of studies takes a "totality of blows" approach, saying that though there are many hits in football that do not cause concussions, adding all those hits up over time does damage the brain. Interesting fact from this article: playing a high school football game is the equivalent of being involved in a car crash at 20-30 miles per hour.
