I'm amazed by how much they hate Tosh now.
We didn’t have anywhere near the same reaction when Martin left and flipped a couple of our commits – as far as I remember, everyone just shrugged their shoulders, said “it’s all in the game,” and moved on. They seem to pretty much want him and everyone he’s ever loved dead. Is it the strong connection he had to Cal that made them feel betrayed, or what?

i would say that they had this amazing class coming in the best cals had in years and the army bowl they had three super talented kids commit and then just like that it was all taken away from them. it’s like someone told you you got told you were gonna start on varsity for the first time and then when you got all your gear on and were ready to go they said actually your just gonna sit on the bench.

Coach Martin suddenly jumped a jet to LA with a number of “commits”? Then the Alamo Bowl Circus act…who can first score 100points on the other? The Holt and Co. dismissal…and the low of wondering what could possibly salvage this shrinking class and bring back the momentum? Then, it all started to change….and how! and the roller-coaster is still flying down the tracks! Hold-on! It’s possibly gonna get more surprises I feel!

I think there’s also a feeling among some that the Tosh hire was an intentional sabotage of Cal’s recruiting class. I think that perception is a little strange, but there’s no plausible way to read that into the Martin hire.

no one is gonna hire a coach just to sabotage another conference team. we hired him because he is a great recruiter and good coach, i doubt it had anything to do with hurting a conference rival.
Except that Mora lives in Seattle and follows UW
he knew what he was doing when he hired Martin. It’s not on the same scale (A 5* and 4*, with maybe a 3* RB versus a couple of 3* replaceable types), but it was calculated none the less.

Take a look at those rankings.
Yesterday there was doomsayers claiming UW was going to have the 2nd to last rated class for 2012.
Yesterday afternoon we were ranked 42 on scout.
Shaq get shot us up to 34th.
Jordan commit moved us up to 28th.
Cal has now dropped to the 40s which is why do many of them have got to be losing their minds at CGB right now.
Our class is now ranked higher than WSU, Zona, Zona St., Cal, Utah, and Ore St. And we are ready to overtake Col whose 26th. Could do so with a couple more Woofs from Sark the the coming hours.
Just great to see us finishing strong as I thought we would. That we finish in the top half of the PAC. Beautiful. Nice affirmation we still got the mojo after all the coaching changes.

Cal Fan and Washington Hate
I do find it somewhat amusing that Cal Fan is being consoled by Oregon Fan when:
a) Chip Kelly swooped in to steal Armstead promising him, no doubt, a bunch of soft Nike benefits … an occurrence that was going to happen whether or not Tosh left Cal
b) Shaq, himself, credited Wilcox with closing the deal and Wilcox, of course, is a Duck
c) Oregon is far and away the class of the division and a much bigger threat to Cal’s prospects for success on the field and on the trail when compared to Washington
But, hey, whatever. Washington – where we are the most hated rival of three Pac 12 teams (and that might be four soon if Utah hatred for us continues to mount). That is saying something.

I don't know about that
I think a lot of people are forgetting some of the great talent we already had committed. It just happened so long ago that they have been somewhat forgotten in the recruiting hype. Don’t diss them by calling the class awful, just saying
perhaps awful is strong.
It didn’t do a great job of addressing our needs, and a lot of great in-state talent went elsewhere.
if we had gotten banner....
I would have been incredibly happy with this class. That would have given the dawgs 5 good solid oline prospects. Even so, the line commits we have all possess an ability to grow into solid lineman down the road. Hopefully we can nab a defensive lineman tomorrow and then I will call this class a success. Looking forward to next year, when we really begin to see the potential of our new coaching staff.

Great, so I wonder what will be used as an excuse now, clearly there were about 3 or 4 causes for Shaq to want to change, seems like on of them was Syd, I see that more now with Banner and Garnett leaving, these kids want to make names for themselves and not live on the relatives who were there before them.
