Go DawgsI
God would this be a bad week for Cal if we won.
#bowdown
Knowing their luck so far
I wouldn’t be surprised if we win on some kind of fluke call
ROOTNW on Direct TV
Huskies are playing pretty well tonight despite being behind at the moment.
UW Dawg Pound - SBN Seattle
That ain't your game, Tony
We need to have Ross taking those shots…
Man, who's this walk-on guy for Cal thats destroying us?
We need to put a stop to this, it’s inexcusable.
As Ross goes, so goes this team
Even more so without Wilcox in the line up
Aweful first half yet again
No energy or movement, just like against WSU. Hope they have a similar epiphany in the second half.
We are sooooo bad this year.
Teamwork just isn’t there, too many players waiting for someone else to create.
Amaning moreso.
His scoring inside was very important.
Aziz seems to be scoring just fine
He’s the only one.

Both ends of the floor.

I don't know much about basketball
but every time I see your coach on TV I can’t help but think what a snazzy dresser he is
Not awful, inconsistent
Had a good game vs WSU but so did Ross. Both look spent.

it's the little things that are so boggling
make a layup, catch the ball, stop the turnovers with ridiculous pass attempts, play some defense

Need to focus on assists.
We really need some players to take pride in their assist totals more than their point totals.
I would if I were him
Cal has gone over the back numerous times with no calls and now they call a soft one.
How did he get a T for that
and not earlier when he was literally screaming in to the ear of the ref?
may have jumped the gun a little..

Gant has been TERRIBLE
He had T-Ross on the wing wide open
He didn't touch the guy.
Bad call at a bad time in the game.
looked clean
even if it was a foul, you just can’t give up the easy layup there
Took too much time to get that shot off

Cal should foul here before they cross half court

because he would be open
no way ross gets an open shot
I don't think he was the first option.
But if he was, nobody would be on him. Open shot.

There is no difference whether the huskies win or lose any of the games on the schedule.
They’re in the same situation no matter what, and in no scenario is “it all over”

Yes, unless they go on a huge run the rest of the regular Pac 12...
They need to win the tourney to go dancing.
I don't follow?

Caught the last few minutes of the game..
The team played considerably more cohesive. But judging by the comments, they still have a lot of issues as far as coheisveness goes.
Ugly
Very frustrating. Our at large chances (no matter how slim they were going into the game) are now toast. I still think we have a shot at winning the Pac-12 tourney, as I think UW’s best is better than the other team’s best. Cal is my pick to win the conference, even though I’m not very impressed, especially considering their 2 best players are seniors.
Why does this team same to lack intensity to begin games
Where is the sense of urgency when they are not already down by 10 points?
Watching this team is exhausting my enjoyment of watching basketball
I understand they are dealing with some injuries but man, it’s brutal to watch sometimes. Keep trying kids, learn from this year.

Decisions...Gant? shooting 0-9! 0-6 from 3!
I was connecting the dots from “Tosh,Downfall”…
Gant seems to have regressed from last year...
He seems like a great guy though… just not doing that well at basketball.
He's completely lost his confidence in his shot.
So has Simmons, and Stewart too. We need to get them going.
The loss of Suggs is playing a huge role here.
With Suggs playing, Simmons would not be taking so many shots and Stewart would be playing only in blowouts or with a minute left in the first half.
With Scott Suggs, we win this game…
Suggs or CJ, but I can't blame them for the loss, injuries suck.
I appreciate the effort Stewart gives, but he needs to figure out how he can contribute to this team.
F R E E T H R O W S...
Now repeat after me….
How hard is that to understand?
Everyone loves “free” stuff right?

The officials seems to them some Cal Bears tonight
Some tough calls down the stretch + the Romar tech that game them two free points.
Romar yelled at the ref who called a moving screen on Aziz after a TO...
and then called another foul on Aziz a minute later for an over the back on an offensive rebound.
What will it take for this team to improve by Pac 12 tourney time?
At times on both offense and defense, it seems like these guys have little chemistry or knowledge of each other’s game.
Also, this team seems to lack the ability to play with the intensity needed for Romar style Husky Basketball.
I completely disagree that it is an intensity problem and I honestly have no idea where you get that idea.
They need to knock down their open shots. Gant is so much better than 0-9, Simmons missed every jumper he took. Gaddy should be making his easy layins. We misconnected on two Ross oops which would have won the game for us. If even one of those players played up to their abilities tonight then we would have won.
Yes, they missed open shots... however, even Coach Romar has stated...
that defensive intensity translates directly to better offensive flow and shooting. Listen to last weeks podcast of the Mitch Levy show and Coach Romar states this flat out.
I think being forced to play so much zone early in the game did not help us dictate tempo with our defense either.
We got in foul trouble
so Romar had no choice with no bench. Stewart was a liability, so we had to play zone to keep our starters in the game, and zone also takes less energy to play than man-to-man which was an issue as well with guys playing 36+ minutes.
by Skeptical Dawg on Jan 19, 2012 8:50 PM PST up reply actions
Yes, that is why I said "forced." I did not mean forced by what Cal was doing.
Yes, with the thin bench, we are forced to play zone for long periods of time – instead as a change up style defense.
Stewart need to start driving the ball to the basket at the very least.
I don't think the defense is as much of a problem as the offense.
The defense was good enough to win, if we made our shots we’re sitting golden right now.
Obviously the D could improve, but I’m blaming the missed shots in this one.
Coach Romar on early vs late intensity vs Cal
My biggest gripe tonight is that we kind of repeated our mistakes against Washington State. We didn’t come out with the type of fire, and I shouldn’t say fire because I thought we played hard, but not with the type of concentration we needed. It picked up more in the second half but against a team like that it wasn’t good enough to overcome the deficit. Down the stretch I thought our guys fought. We played extremely hard, but we came up on the short end obviously.
