DP Editorial Apology

I want to apologize personally to anyone who was offended by a post earlier this week which included the use of a racial stereotype in one of the paragraphs. The article in question was edited once it was brought to my attention. I apologize for not noticing it sooner.

Even if a racial stereotype is employed with the utmost innocence and goodwill (as it was in this case), simply by making a minority the butt of a joke puts that minority in an inferior position which of course makes its use unacceptable in this or any SBN forum.

We aren't perfect here but we try to take the high road in everything that we do. I think that has been a key ingredient in building a Husky football forum which has become quite unique. I want to thank everyone for their participation in making this one of the best places to discuss Husky football!

Thank you, john

for taking the high road. Race, politics, religion are best avoided especially in a sportsblog. Religion is harder to avoid due to BYU, SMU, ND, Baylor etc. Wish Dawgman would mentor some of their posters.
One very minor point, and you know my ethnicity. Asians are only a minority in the USA. 1 out of 3 people in the world is chinese, and factor in India, etc and the number is probably closer to 1 out of 2. Also, at University of California, (these figures are probably 5 years old) but UCLA, Cal, UCSanDiego, UC Riverside and UCI are over 50% “minority” enrollment. UC Irvine has around 55% asian enrollment alone.

Thank you...

Nobody is ever going to be 100% politically correct…we all make mistakes from time to time. The best way to handle it is to acknowledge that we aren’t perfect and that we can learn from it going forward. You can avoid a lot of problems in print by avoiding race, religion, and politics.
