Huskies advance to face Arizona

LOS ANGELES, CA - MARCH 11: Isaiah Thomas #2 of the Washington Huskies is taken out of the game late in the second half and as is greeted by head coach Lorenzo Romar of the Washington Huskies while taking on the Oregon Ducks in the semifinals of the 2011 Pacific Life Pac-10 Men's Basketball Tournament at Staples Center on March 11, 2011 in Los Angeles, California. The Washington Huskies limped into this tournament on Thursday but two consecutive victories over WSU and Oregon have put them into todays championship game against Arizona. Win or lose this afternoon the Huskies are now a certain lock to receive an invitation to the big dance.

Washington took control of last nights game from the onset. The Ducks lingered within striking distance the entire game but the Huskies shut the door completely on Oregon during the last five minutes on the way to a 69-51 win.

I think that last nght was one of Isaiah Thomas's most complete games as a Husky. His shooting hand wasn't hot but more importantly he was able to distribute the ball with finesse all evening. His improved ball handing is allowing the Huskies to score more inside which has helped them become less one dimensional on offense over the last two games.

CJ Wilcox (14) and Terrence Ross (13) led the Huskies in scoring. Scott Suggs and IT chipped in 10 a piece. Darnell Gant provided 21 minutes of excellent play highlighted be strong defense inside, 8 points, and a team high 10 rebounds.

Who is “CJ Wallace?”

Doesn't he play safety for the 49ers?

How did he get eligible to play hoop? ;)

Yep, he was a pretty good strong safety.

Better with or without Overton?

I think we are better with him he gives us more depth plus he can handle ball – adds pressure D and can drive to basket and of course comes up with the bone head play(s) of the game which gives us something to talk about. Not sure on the team chemistry with him playing though. However do like the more minutes that Wilcox – Suggs and Ross are getting with the O man being sat down.

IMHO we are a better team with Overton and Aziz not starting.

I think this is right. Wilcox, Suggs and Ross are our best scorers.

when two of three of them are on the floor, it gives our PG more options and creates opportunities for MBA to convert double teams into easy buckets. Problem is that its not our best defensive team.

Damn, my eyeball tastes good.

Personally I like the 'smaller' lineup Romar has been using

Having IT, three of Holiday, Wilcox, Ross, Suggs, & Gant, along with Aziz, gives us ridiculous length and wingspan (minus IT) for our 2-3 zone to give the guys a breather on the defensive side. Offensively we may not have scoring balance inside & out, but we can spread the floor and drive & dish like nobodys business. It’s seemed to work well the past two nights.

Congratulations to The Huskies. Good luck vs Zona.

The University of Utah is off to the Pac-12 Conference and will be in the South Division. Hopefully we will get to the first ever Pac-12 Championship Game. Jon " Bones " Jones gets his chance for the UFC Light Heavyweight Title when he faces off against Shogun Rua. Jon Jones will win.
