Dawg Pound - UW Player of the Year Awards - Returning Linebackers
Now that the regular season is over its time for our readers to vote for the players you feel had the most impact this season and the one's you feel who will have the most impact going forward into the future. I will be posting the different categories twice per day until we finish on Friday.
So who is the most promising of the returning linebackers?
Who is going to fill the huge void left by MLB Cort Dennison?
What do you think?

none of the above?
I’m joking, but it’s a tough call. I went with Fuimaono, because it seemed like he’s shown the most growth, but I think you could make an argument for any of the above (with the possible exception of Pelluer). Will also be interesting to see which redshirted guys can make some noise next year.
Whatever happened to Pelleur this season?
He played right away as a true frosh…did they hold him out this year…did he get hurt? I never noticed him on the participation lists published after the games.

no idea
Thought he’d be a factor at OLB prior to the season, but I don’t remember seeing him play any meaningful minutes on defense. Pretty sure his only playing time came on special teams.
That said, he’s still just a RS-So next year – plenty of time for him to make his mark. He wasn’t a highly recruited kid, so it’s not surprising that he hasn’t made a big impact yet.
Not sure if he's got the athleticism for linebacker.
It’d be great if he could put on weight – and a lot of it – and become a big end.
Did Pelleur redshirt this year?
He played as a frosh. I don’t remember him playing this year, but I assummed he was on some special team plays. If he did, he’s a junior. He has better LB size than most of the other LBs.
he should get (or already got) a redshirt for last year
He got hurt early after playing in just a handful of games, and should qualify for a medical hardship for last year and get a 5th year.
Yup, they're depressing.
Notice the lack of RS-Sophomores and RS-Juniors. I hope these guys can get bigger, quicker and smarter on the field.

Fuimaono
I voted for Princeton because he was the most consistent of the inconsistent LBing corp not name Dennison. One thing is for sure, we have to get better and running from sideline to sideline, because perimeter run clobbered us.
All I saw was purple
As long as they all learn how to tackle, we should be fine
Hopefully this year got the growing pains out of the way and another offseason is the key for all these guys!

This next year will be interesting
Every year, we’ve known who would be the leader of the defense
09 – Butler
10 – Foster
11 – Dennison.
As this poll suggests, who is next? Why hasn’t this coaching staff recruited anyone that is readily waiting in the wings with at least 2 years of eligibility left?
It’s a broken record, I know. But I can’t see how our defense is going to be better next year, whether Holt is there or not.

Jamora
Not that they would have completely turned the defense around but Jamora was definitely missed. Shirley wasn’t ready to play right away, he needs a few pounds still.

"Why hasn't this coaching staff recruited anyone...?"
Well, maybe because Sark had like three hours to recruit his first class, and those players would be the ones you’re talking about.
Why hasn’t this coaching staff recruited anyone that is readily waiting in the wings with at least 2 years of eligibility left?
Because they have had only two real recruiting classes?

All seniors on your list
and we don’t have any next year. A lot of LBs failed to get into school.
Fuiamono is the most experienced,
but I have a hunch that Kearse is going to come into his own next season.
Funny thing
The two people I first thought of were backups (Kearse & Gilliland). It seemed to me that they made plays when they were on the field, while Timu and Fuimaono didn’t. Tutogi will have some big shoes to fill, and he is the third backup who I would have considered. Hopefully the Coaching staff is seeing things that I’m not.
