The Prediction - Washington 38 Oregon State 24

The Dawgs have lost two in a row and are looking to get the season back on track this week in Corvallis against Oregon State.

The Beavers are only 2-8 on the season but Vegas has them as a two point underdog which tells you how little they have been impressed with the Huskies over the last four weeks.

Washington wasn't competitive with Stanford, Oregon, and USC and with QB Keith Price out with a sore knee a lot of people are calling this a toss up type of game. Phil Steele who is one of the best prognosticators in the country is picking the Beavers...wow!

This is a late season Northwest rivalry football game being played on the road. It is senior day at Oregon State. The Beavers are going to give their Huskies one of their better games. You can count on it. Washington needs to come out and hit them in the mouth.

I happen to think that Nick Montana is going to do just fine this weekend. All Sark has to do is have him hand the ball off to Chris Polk 35 times and victory should be assured. The Beavers are terrible against the run and the Huskies have one of the best running backs in the county.

Sark needs to come out and commit to the run. Washington needs to wear Oregon State down and keep their offense off the field. It's November...it is time to hammer the ball against the weaker opponent. If Polk has a dominating day Washington will have no problem winning this game.

Oregon State hasn't been able to find balance on offense. The Beavers have to pass to move the ball because the running game hasn't recovered from the graduation of Jacquizz Rodgers. It doesn't help that the offensive line has been a work in progress all season.

QB Sean Mannion surprised us all when he supplanted Ryan Katz during the second half of the first game of the season. He has looked pretty good despite throwing 15 interceptions and being sacked 18 times so far this season.

The Beavers are going to test Washington deep early and often so the secondary needs to be on its toes. The front seven needs to get some good pressure on Mannion and force him into making mistakes. This could be a game in which Alameda Ta'amu dominates.

I am predicting the win because I expect the Husky defense to be solid on Saturday. I expect Nick Montana to do a good job and make some good things happen. Most importantly I am seeing the defense improve each game and I don't see the Beavers outscoring the Huskies....Washington 38 Oregon State 24

I hope you are right

but it is hard to feel good after the beat downs we have had over the last month. I will be at the game tomorrow and I am hoping for a 150 yard day from Polk. One encouraging thing about this year is that we have won every game we were “supposed” to win. That is more then we can say for years previous. We haven’t had the upset, but we have been consistent in beating opponents we should beat.

Keep in mind

Stanford, Oregon, and USC are vastly superior to Oregon State. The Beavers are on the level of WSU, Colorado, and Arizona.

You're right. OSU is none of those teams, thank God.

But the obvious gap after Whoregon, Stanford, and USC in the conference is clear after this past month. It seems to be those 3 and everyone else. After this stretch, I would say we are closer to the middle of the pack instead of the top. Top of the middle, but still the middle.

OSU doesn’t scare me, our O-line scares me.

Number four or five

That isn’t bad at all…

Nick will be fine

I think Nick will be able to do the job and have a better game than most think. Watching
the $c game the o line was a mess. Mr Berkowitz I know you are not a fan of coaching
changes but if the o line can’t get it together then I think Sark needs to bring in a new o line
coach. My pick would be Pat Ruel

Sark knows what he is doing...

…and so does Dan Cozzetto. They are working with too many second year players. Ideally you don’t want to start any of those guys until years four and five.

Plus, two of those second year players

Are being broken in. Kolher at a new position and Tanigawa at the college level in general.

Polk

I just have this feeling that Polk and Company are going to rush for over 200 yards.

I'd love to see it

Been a while since we steamrolled over another team – Colorado if I’m not mistaken. Plus, we owe the Beavers some payback for that bizarre stretch from ‘04-’09 where we lost 6 in a row to them…

generous?

You have picked UW to win every week… USC’s OL does not have a senior starting and they did okay http://usc.rivals.com/cdepthtext.asp. And how can Ta’amu have a great game if he sat out of yesterday’s practice in a boot?

Yeah, you're right

Someone call the team hotel and let the team know they don’t have to play tomorrow.

by B Money on Nov 19, 2011 1:55 AM PST via mobile up reply actions

You have a problem with that?

We really aren’t in to predicting Washington losses this season. There are plenty of negative rocks on the Internet you can climb under to hide you troll. Ta’amu will be fine…it was just a procedure to help him get ready and reduce swelling.

Ta'amu...

…will be just fine. Sark said he will play and should be good to go. They just wanted to give him some time off his ankle. You’ll see, he will have a good game!

No turnovers, RUN THE BALL, at least 60/40

I also think Nic will do fine if we keep it simple. That said, however, he will need to throw across the middle and maybe one deep ball to keep us from becoming predictable to them beavs.

On a side note, talk about a tough week: Oklahoma State

by prrbrr on Nov 19, 2011 4:42 AM PST reply actions

Agree

I think we will have to run more than 60% of the time though more like 70 or 75%. Would also like to see more carries by Callier and Sankey. Pound the rock! No Turnovers! Go Dawgs!
