Huskies Basketball Season Opener Against Georgia St. Saturday at 2pm
Huskies basketball embarqs a new season this Saturday against the Panthers of Georgia St. GSU is a member of the Colonial Athletic Conference and finished last season at 12-19, 3rd to last in their conference. This team runs a up tempo style offense which plays to our strengths since we are an up tempo team as well.
GSU is lead by 6'8" Sr. PF Eric Buckner who had 9.4 ppg and 5.6 rpg in 2010, and also RS senior F Brandon Mcgee. At 6'6" 230 lbs he is a nightmare matchup for most teams. He is a rebounding machine who can also shoot the 3 ball extremely well. GSU has a young sophomore point guard in Devonta White who is quick and quite the floor general. A lot of people thought of White as the consensus Freshman of the year in the CAC before an ankle sprain ended his season. They also have a new head coach in Ron Hunter from IUPUI. Hunter has a great track record and lead IUPUI to the NCAA tourney in 2002. He brings a fast paced offense to GSU and in his hiring press conference he vowed to "Never allow the shot clock to run out on a possession."
With GSU running their offense at a high tempo, they will have to outrun us to win the game. No way that happens. Our biggest strength is in the open court running from end to end. I can not see GSU keeping up with the Dawgs especially since they are not that deep of a team. They currently have talked about only playing a seven man rotation. The one very exciting thing for Dawg fans is that we will get to see our team unleashed. If a team counters our running style with running, the game will never slow down. This game should be filled with exciting play after play, most of them going the way of the Dawgs. Huskies win big in this one.
One more note, Scott Suggs is now out of his walking boot. Suggs is on schedule to be back in December.

Cant believe its not on TV
I know its during college football but you would think someone would cover it.
Yeah I'm pissed about it too
They also play Florida Atlantic Sunday, and it also is not televised. I live in Texas so I can’t even get a radio broadcast!
They play Portland Monday night at 7pm pacific time, that is carried on ROOT. I’ll be watching and will give a report on the game. Go Huskies!
It should be an easy three game sweep. It is called the World Vision Classic tournament. No idea what that is. It involves GSU, FAU, Portland, and the Dawgs. All the games, even ones not involving the Huskies, are at the Alaska Airlines Arena or as I love to call it Hec Ed.

Thanks for giving more basketball stuff. I started doing that last year. I will sure to add my two cents to what you write. I live in Colorado so now radio for me either unless i can get it on my phone.
thanks for the info on GS and the updates
Wish it was on TV but since we are going to USC, we gave our bball tickets away to our relatives. Hope they provide some feedback to us after the three games of this tournament.
I agree with you if GS runs with us, it could be a really interesting game as far as scoring.
No prob
I think the game would be really fun to see. I’d much rather be in your position going to SC. Go Huskies!

how bout those bruins??
losing 69-58 to loyola marymount

Another national media pick to win our conference goes down to an inferior opponent. Better start giving the Dawgs respect!
