Picking the Pac - Week Two
Colorado at California
The Bears opened the season with a convincing win over Sacramento State which really doesn't give is us a good idea of how good a team they are. Colorado who opened with a 24-3 win over Colorado State and should be able to give them a better test. Colorado will make it interesting but I don't think that they have the talent to compete four quarters with Cal.
California 34 Colorado 17 - Vegas - Cal 8.5
Montana State at Washington State
If you are a Cougar fan you need to get to Pullman this Saturday because this may be the only game your team wins this year. I have to pick the Cougars but I think Montana State is going to keep it closer than Cougar fans would like.
Washington State 35 Montana State 24 - Vegas - No Line
Oregon at Tennessee
The Volunteers should give Oregon more of a game then New Mexico did last week. Just for the record - Oregon didn't have to punt once against New Mexico. Tennessee isn't back to full strength but they have enough team speed to make this game interesting. Knoxville isn't an easy place to play in so that is another factor in the Volunteers favor. All that being said Oregon is going to win this football game and they are going to beat the 12 point spread.
Oregon 38 Tennessee 17 - Vegas - Oregon 12
Northern Arizona at Arizona State
Arizona State attempts to go 2-0 this season in the Big Sky conference. Not a real step up in competition after drubbing Portland State last week.
ASU 45 Northern Arizona 14 - Vegas - No Line
The Citadel at Arizona
Another FCS school with a proud tradition lines up to get pummeled by a school from the state of Arizona for the right to take a good sized check back home.
Arizona 37 Citadel 17 - Vegas - No Line
Stanford at UCLA
The Pac 10 opener for both of these schools. Stanford is catching UCLA at the right time. The Bruins lack depth and experience on the offensive line. QB Kevin Prince is hurting and isn't close to being 100%.
Stanford 35 UCLA 10 - Vegas - Stanford by 6
Virginia at USC
Will the Trojan defense show up against Virginia? It should because the Cavaliers are terrible. I would pay more attention to the points that USC gives up as opposed to the points they score.
USC 48 Virginia 17- Vegas - USC by 19.5

When the lines opened for UO vs. UT I hopped on Oregon at +13...
I figured any rational person would look at that game and see a fairly comfortable Oregon win…but instead the line keeps moving towards Tennessee. The goddamn Ducks better come through, not only for the Pac-10 but for my wallet.
Everything else I pretty much agree with, I think the Stanford/UCLA line is way off as well. Luck should be able to exploit the UCLA secondary which I feel is way overrated (except Moore, he’s pretty darn good).
The Ducks are not national championship good...
…they are going to lose twice this season. Tenn will be one of them. (cue dramatic music)
Damn, my eyeball tastes good.
Oh, I think they are.
They have a distinct possibility of going undefeated this year. Won’t be easy; it’ll be hard, but they have exactly what it takes to do just that.

Undefeated with an untested sophomore QB and 9 PAC 10 games plus an SEC matchup?
… They are the cream of the PAC 10, but they aren’t close to good enough to do that
Damn, my eyeball tastes good.
The problem with free time . . . .
Long story short, thanks to “paternity” leave, followed by a slow week, I’ve only gone to work 3 of the last 21 days. Got to love a salary. So when I saw this thread I decided to go back to last week and see how everybody did, then I started punching numbers and came up with an idea. Idea: Why don’t we (I’ll do the work) keep a running tab of our pre game predictions. At the end of the year, somebody gets bragging rights until next season. Here’s what I have so far:
Name Straight up Against the Spread
John B. 8-2 6-4
prrbrr 7-3 5-5
Lear Pilot 6-1 3-4
Tenn. Quack Attack 5-2 4-3
B Money 5-2 4-3
What do you guys think, good idea or bad idea? Start with week one and just total everybody’s numbers, or start with week two and be required to pick all games with a Pac10 team? Let me know what you think, I’ve got plenty of free time, so I’m more than willing to do the math and keep a running tally week to week. Any other suggestions are more than welcome.

Either way works for me.
You’re the betting expert, I’ve got a question, how should I be counting against the spread? What I did with week one was calculate if the team I picked won by at least the amount I said.
I’ll plan on dropping any games against FCS opponents unless people tell me they want it the other way.

The Stomp
Gosh I remember someone in the stands used to get that thing going and the noise was unbelievable! Like thunder before the storm! Of course it was an upper deck thing the lower bowl is concrete…really old concrete!
Washington Husky Football-"Hear the bark, feel the bite!"
That's what I feel will be the difference.
The crowd. We were up against a decent team last week and while we played “ok”, we didn’t find it at the end. In the friendly confines and with a bit of a chip on our shoulders I can definitely see that happening. Yes, I do get a lot of odd looks in the UAE with these purple glasses.

Stomp
We still do it in Sec 44…it’s a lot easier on my vocal chords than yelling but I still yell too.
Yelling is a young mans sport
