FSN Northwest: Will they show the BYU game?

Hello! I am living in Bremerton and was just wondering if FSN here will show the game. It seems obvious, but I can find no mention of it. It would make sense to see the 'home' team's games and the only other game starting at that time is the Cougar-Cowboy game that looks to have far less interest in every way. So, any idea? I don't have extended cable options, so any games on channels other than what one could find on the basic cable package will be difficult for me to find.
In the absence of that, does anyone know if someone on Justintv or some other streaming video site plan on showing the game? That is how I watched UW-ASU last year.

Really?

That is terrible. There is only one other game I see starting at that time and FSN has a game starting at that time. Am I really gonna be forced to watch the freakin’ Cougs?

I’d suggest finding a local sports bar – chances are decent that if they take sports seriously, they’ll have that channel and will be showing the Husky game.

Do you have Comcast?

If you have Comcast (I do in Gig Harbor), then you have to get the Sports Package to get CBS College Sports (Channel 412 I think). It’s $7.95 a month and gives you a bunch more sports channels. If you don’t want it for the whole season, just cancel it after the game.

What are my options if I have Dish Network?

I am so pumped to watch the game and I’d be pissed if I couldn’t get it.

You have to figure out if your Dish Network plan includes the CBS College Sports Channel (which is different than the regular CBS channel).

I have CBS College

It’s channel 152 (HD or reg.). I went to it and college volleyball was on. Scrolled the guide for Saturday and at 4:00pm and the Washington at BYU game was highlited above. I pushed record on the DVR.

I don’t know much about Dish Network, just got it a month ago. And surely I don’t know much about this CBS College channel. If the game is highlighted as it was, will the game be shown? What are the chances it’s blocked? Please advise … I don’t want to miss out on the first game.

Called Dish and the rep wasn’t much help.

If you can access that channel currently, I don’t see any reason why you wouldn’t be able to see the game on Saturday. When you say college volleyball was on, do you mean you were actually watching it, or you just saw the listing for it?

by kirkd on Aug 30, 2010 12:02 PM PDT up reply actions

The volleyball was actually on. I think I've got the BYU game.

I’m not proficient with technology. Hell I struggle programing my coffee pot to turn on in the morning.

You should be good

If you’re seeing the channel now, the only reason you wouldn’t see the game on Saturday is if your antenna is having technical problems or the signal goes down for some reason. Or if you haven’t paid your bill and they turn off your feed between now and then…

;)

TEST

I tried the UW game and it said OK (Click Tacoma) thought I had discovered something. But tried to record current show and got a not allowed sign up message. Do test now.

Thank God for Dish Network

I didn’t even know I had this CBS College channel. This morning I woke up read this post and thought the worst. I thought clearly my weekend was ruined, waited all summer for Husky football only to find out that I might miss the opener. Found the channel (152) and I’ve been watching college volleyball all day just so I know it doesn’t go off. Nebraska vs. Florida (volleyball) Go CBS college! WOOF!!!

Can't Order It

Money, even fake money that I can just recoup later, is tight. I’ll check into the South Pacific bar.

But really, I’m in Bremerton. Seattle isn’t far at all in any stretch of the imagination. If I am really going to be forced to see the Cougs when the ‘home’ team is playing a higher profile opponnent and the home team is a better team, I am gonna strip down and I don’t believe anyone wants that.

sports bars

There must be some sports bars in Bremerton, and given the proximity to Seattle I’d be shocked if they didn’t have at least 1 TV dedicated to the Husky game. Worst case scenario, hop the ferry over to Seattle – should be easy to find a place showing the game.

BYU or Oklahoma State
when the ‘home’ team is playing a higher profile opponnent

BYU is not a higher profile opponent. MWC vs. Big 12. However I can feel your pain. How the hell FSN chose to showcase the Cougs is beyond me. If it weren’t on the same time the Huskies were on, I’d probably catch the opening series and switch it over. WSU has a been putting a bad product on the field and I don’t see anything different this season. In the past I’ve watched Coug games under Doba and Price. I bleed Husky purple but those eras of Cougar football were entertaining- I can’t stomach to watch the Cougs under Wulff, it’s just bad football.

Hope you find a set with the game on, I think I got lucky.

Disagree

That is tantamount to saying BYU/Utah would be a lesser draw than Kansas, which is false. If were talking a big-time football program, I’d understand. But you are taking a team with little appeal(WSU) versus a team that is second in it’s own state at best(OSU) versus a team that is bigger than WSU and has far more appeal in every way(UW) versus a team that has a strong enough following that they can make a lot more going independent than they do now(BYU).

I understand BCS Conference vs. non-BCS, but c’mon, Boise State would sell more than Maryland, for instance.:P

@Kirk- The South Pacific is a Sports Bar. So is the Cloverleaf. Shall check both AND Justintv. I don’t have enough money until I get paid for a ferry ticket back and forth, sadly.

As I stated above FSN isn't showing the game because it's BYU's home game and they have the TV rights

BYU chose to put on CBSCS. FSN has a deal with the Big-12 as well, so that game would be on FSN either way.
