Kasen Williams Picks Washington
Kasen Williams from Skyline HS in Sammamish, Wa announced tonight that he will attend the University of Washington next fall. He is the second five star player from in state this year to commit to Washington. As a junior in 2009, the 6'3 200 lb WR finished with 1,209 receiving yards and 20 touchdowns.
Williams recently narrowed his list to a final five that included Florida, Notre Dame, California, Louisiana State and Washington. In a radio interview earlier this week, he said his list was down to two schools but would not reveal the names.
Williams is strong big receiver who is able to hang and make adjustments to the ball in the air. He is built like a linebacker so he has the strength to hold his own against DB's coming off the line. He doesn't have world class speed but he is deceptively fast and has excellent leaping ability.
Williams is going to be a real bruiser when he catches the ball. He has the ability to break tackles and carry people with him in the same manner as Chris Polk. Unlike Chris he will be doing that one on one in the secondary. We are talking about a kid who has big play potential.

This is what I was hoping for.
If Hundley commits to UW, then I’m going to be very interested to see if the prediction that some recruiting experts made where if the Huskies got commitments from Williams, Hundley and Seferian-Jenkins, that a considerable increase in the swing of recruiting momentum will occur where the Huskies land some more 4- and 5-star recruits.
That said, this is happy news!!!

I think in the case of DeAnthony Thomas, everything hangs on his visit at the Nebraska game.
According to scout.com, he’s already given a soft verbal to USC, and the only two schools he has any other interest in are UW and UCLA, but of the two, only UW has an official visit scheduled with him.
To add to your list, I’d like to see Viliami Moala commit to UW. I just heard from my friend who follows Oregon religiously who just said that Moala took Oregon off of his list,

It's great to see UW keeping kids home these days
It really sucked to see some great kids leave the state and the only logical explanation was that we didn’t have the best leadership. We’ve got it now! Welcome to HuskyNation Kasen! WOOF!!!
All I saw was purple
Question:
I had thought that Brett Hundley was going to announce his decision the same day as Kasen Williams. Did that change, or was I wrong?
In either case, does anyone know when he does plan to make his announcement?

I've heard rumors...
That he was flying up to Seattle today (sat.). For what I am not sure. But if you consider ASJ commited a week ago, Kasen commited last night. I don’t think Hundley is coming up to check out Pike Place- I’m hoping this is a business trip if you know what I mean :)

Oh?
Well then, I got my fingers crossed!

yep
Sounds like he was flying on a “buddy pass” (I think his mom works for an airline) but was bumped – not terribly unexpected given how full flights are these days with airline cutbacks.
I know a few Husky fans are freaking out about it, but until I actually see a quote from him saying he’s not re-scheduling, I’m not stressing about it. Chances are he’ll be up for a game-day experience, and I think that only helps the UW’s cause with him.
Nope
That was never the case, just some people getting ahead of themselves. Hundley has consistently stated that he’ll make his decision after these latest two trips, and if he’s still not sure, he may take official visits. That said, I’d expect him to make his decision not too long after his Washington visit, whenever he ends up re-scheduling it (rumor is for the Syracuse game).
He's choosing Sept. 6th
I have no idea if that means UCLA or UW.

By itself I don’t think it means much, but the early buzz is that it’s going to be UCLA. Now, according to Biggins’ latest update, Hundley isn’t telling anyone but his family – if that’s really true, then the “insider” scoop probably doesn’t have a lot of merit.
Just a guess
ASJ and Kasen have been doing a good job of “building hype”. Say Hundley knows he’s going to pick UW, doesn’t make the visit due to airline standby troubles, but decides he’ll announce before his UW visit to increase the amount of chatter about his decision. Everybody is now talking about Hundley, he announces UW on the 6th and comes to town as a hero on the 11th.
Nobody knows but Hundley, it could easily go either direction.

"BOW DOWN TO WASHINGTON"
Not sure he could visit on the 11th
I don’t know if players can take unofficial visits during the season, and until he takes his SAT he can’t make an official visit. Word I’ve heard is he won’t have his SAT test taken until October.
I want to believe that he’ll pick the UW, but it wouldn’t shock me at all if he picks UCLA.
Hadn't heard about the SAT
I had heard he might take a trip during the Syracuse game, all second hand info at best.
I’m not that concerned about Hundley, Sark will find and tutor a good qb, there are plenty of under the radar guys out there.

Price seems to be making a lot of strides (and it’s important to remember he had a lot of positive buzz about him when he was recruited) and there are reasons to believe Montana will also develop nicely, so yeah – it’s not critical that the UW get a top-flight QB in this class. The do need to get a QB though, as Price and Montana are the only scholarship guys at the position for 2011, and that’s just waaaaaay too thin to feel comfortable with.
Not getting Hundley also makes things a little easier to get a top-flight QB for the 2012 class, though if Sark likes Jeff Lindquist, chances are he’d get him regardless of who commits this year…
All that said, I’d rather get Hundley than not, and I’d really rather see the UW win this recruiting battle with UCLA than lose it.
embarassment
of riches!!!
of riches. Nothing like this ever in Husky ledgermain!!!!
DeAnthony Thomas, Greg Townsend, Viliami Moala, Colt Lyerla, Stefan McClure, Cyrus Hobbi, George Atkinson, James Sample, Brennan Scarlett and Christian Heyward
If my math is correct that is two more than we can sign. There are also an LB and DB from Grant HS we are after, Moala’s campus.
Not on list Brendan Bigelow, Aubry Coleman, Danny Shelton… And more unknown to us.
Have you considered attrition?
No doubt we are going to have some more kids who leave the program for many diverse reasons. And like last season we can fill those spots.
All I saw was purple
I thought there was a new rule that you could only take 25 kids in any class
they were closing greyshirt loopholes.
I consider DeAnthony Thomas a longshot.
He’s already given a soft verbal to USC.
That said, the only other schools that he’s considered outside of USC were UW and UCLA, and of the two, UW is the only school he’s scheduled to visit.
If he, by some chance, is still interested in UW, then it sounds to me that everything rests on his visit to the Nebraska game.
Of all the names that you have listed, the only one that I know of that has UW high on his wish list is James Sample.

I'm not willing to go there
It seems to me that the bar keep raising in regards to recruiting. But I will say this, I think D Thomas is Kiffin’s to lose. If USC has another awful season, Thomas could look elsewhere. Not only is the Nebraska game huge, but I think the following weekend at USC is going to play huge in his decision.
But I’m at the point that I think we can compete with everybody for recruits, both in state and out.
All I saw was purple
I thought it was 7-5
And they lost their bowl game if I am not mistaken. Under Carroll that was be considered an awful season.
All I saw was purple
Record aside it was an awful USC season
Started out good, but came unraveled. Now I remember, they finished 8-4 but they had to fight in the bowl game in order to avoid a 7-5 season. But they did finish 4th or 5th in league correct?
Regardless how accurate I am being with USC’s last season. The bottom line is that it was seen as an awful season due to the standard Carroll had set. But I still think D Thomas is Kiffin’s to lose- the season will tell all, the players reaction after losing a game or two will tell all. If USC does not come with a sense of urgency or if they drop a game and fold like paper (nothing to play for), Thomas could look elsewhere.
All I saw was purple
they were 9-4 last year
Would it really trouble you so much to do a little bit of research before you post? You access and post to this site so you clearly are able to use the Internet – it would have taken all of a dew minutes searching to find out what USC’s record was last year.
Hmmm...
Now I remember, they finished 8-4 but they had to fight in the bowl game in order to avoid a 7-5 season.
Do you realize how contradictory that sounds?
I get the sense you do not really remember. USC had a 14-0 start. BC caught up a little bit before half-time, one of them mostly due to an interception by Matt Barkley but USC pretty much controlled the game the entire way. I remember that game rather well because that was the game that Damian Williams blew up for almost 200 yards.
I knew you’d say, “yeah but it was an awful season for USC.” Perspective and USC standards aside, a 9-4 season not an awful season.
Thomas could look elsewhere, but that doesn’t necessarily make him any less of a longshot to pick UW.
USC’s finish in the Pac-10 standings was not reflective of them as much as it was reflective of how competitive the Pac-10 was last year.

Okay I butchered it...
But I still don’t think he is a longshot. He has a soft verbal to USC and he shows interest in both Ucla and Washington. Of the three the only official visit right now is to Washington. Many thought Sean Parker was a long shot last offseason. But what we didn’t know is that Sark had him dialed in. Same could apply to D. Thomas.
With the type of kids we are recruiting now, to me it’s not a longshot, especially if we have a visit scheduled and the fact that we are still one of his favs. Thomas committed early and he could change his mind if Washington takes another step towards the top shelf of the Pac 10.
All I saw was purple
The thing that wil make it tough for Thomas is distance. He has said all along that he’d like to stay close to home. UW will have to overwhelm him to get him to leave Cali.
GO SARK!!!
We have the potential to do just that
If we get on a role early and can sustain if, the University of Washington is no slouch. We have swagger power. Getting Hundley could be a piece of the puzzle. “Experts” have indicated that the chips could fall for Washington if ASJ and Kasen commit- they have. If we get Hundley, followed by some more 4 and 5 star recruits and the Dawgs are making a big splash by winning this season, Thomas might reconsider his soft verbal.
How many of us were shocked that Sean Parker came onboard on signing day? None of us really had him becoming a Husky. My question is- was it planned? Or was it a signing day decision? My guess tells me that the coaching staff had him for a while and kept it hush hush til the very end so that the hype would grow. I’m beginning to realize nothing is impossible with this coaching staff.
All I saw was purple
Yes I agree!
Hundley and Moala and….there’s still room for more who are ready to push, pull or drive the train! This recruiting class is on pace to be the best ever…really,it is!
The Thing About Moala Though...
…is that he could probably pull the train by himself…;O)
