The past couple years have been pretty bad, but I doubt Oregon will be able to bring in the big splash name they think they'll be able to. They have no history and a poor recruiting base (won't get the Midwest players Kent used to pull any more).
They'll probably never be able to compete with the UCLA's/Arizona's/Washington's of the world.

Interesting

This comes out before tonight’s game is even over. Classy move, Belotti.

Ernie Kent isn't the problem

He isn’t the problem and I guess they will find that out when they break in the new arena with a new coach.

Somebody had to be the fall guy

and it just so happens that it’s easy to blame Ernie.

I don’t know what to think of Kent as a coach. I’m hard pressed to think of another guy with as up and down of a career as he’s had – two Elite 8 teams (with his players to boot) and last year’s disaster.

I have to wonder if Oregon is going to be able to do better…

Let the Rumors begin

Mark Few -—> U of O.

The Oregon press has been saying this forever. I can’t believe that Mark Few would go there though, even though there are many personal, non-basketball related reasons why he would.

They’ll try to get Few, but I doubt he moves – at least not to Oregon. He’s got a great thing going at Gonzaga, and I can’t see him leaving that unless it’s a much more prestigious job.

Oregon will float a lot of name coaches. I saw a rumor elsewhere that they’ll go after Anderson and Mizzou (which I also find highly dubious), but they do have enough money and the Nike cache to think they might land one of them.

But I’ll call it right now – I highly doubt they’ll get Few.

I think a lot of their fans don't expect Few at this point

Want him? Yes. Expect him to leave Spokane? Probably not.

Stew Morrill?

Utah State has had a lot of success in the smaller WAC and I think this guy gets a looksy.

Too Old, among other things.

He’s nearly 60. He won’t even get a sniff.

But could take the Dick Bennett approach

Bring Stew in to redefine the program, meanwhile Stew could groom his eventual replacement. Sort of how WSU offered their job to Dick Bennett, who groomed his son to be his future replacement. WSU made it work, but have had trouble holding onto coaches.

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J. Jasper Howard had his little sisters' names tatooed on his chest. His friends say it was a constant reminder of why he was at U Conn _ to provide his family with a better life than the one he had in Miami's Little Haiti. (AP Photo/Mel Evans, File) link
