who’s lighting up for the dawgs

by beetsalad on Mar 18, 2010 12:57 PM PDT reply actions

Brendan Sherrer

Cuz it’s not like he’s gonna play and what could be more fun than having a front row seat to watching your team play in the tourney. Plus San Jose isn’t all that far away from Humboldt county, so he’d have his pick of choice crops.

by B Money on Mar 18, 2010 5:09 PM PDT reply actions

I like it

Field Goals 7-12 (58.3%) 7-13 (53.8%)
Free Throws 0-0 (0.0%) 1-2 (50.0%)
3-pointers 3-4 (75.0%) 3-5 (60.0%)
Rebounds (Off) 7 (1) 4 (0)
Assists 6 4
Steals 1 2
Blocks 3 0
Turnovers 3 1
Personal Fouls 2 2

Huskies leading in all catagories besides steals…good omen even though we don’t have the lead.

Bad move by Q

but that’s gonna be our real key to victory is forcing them to use their below average bench.

by B Money on Mar 18, 2010 5:15 PM PDT reply actions

I'm not sure that Williams uses his bench much at all

even if his guys are tired. They’re rotation is only 6 deep, 7 if they’re in trouble.

by B Money on Mar 18, 2010 5:22 PM PDT up reply actions

We've GOT to tighten up this D

rushing these guys is clearly not throwing off their shooting rhythm.

Maybe the cheapie and a free throw

will get Q’s head in the game. He’s thinking too much.

by StuHamm on Mar 18, 2010 5:37 PM PDT reply actions

have to hit those free throws

by John Berkowitz on Mar 18, 2010 5:46 PM PDT reply actions

Q needs to turn it around in the second half

FG 1-7
FT 2-6

He’s rebounding and playing good defense. But with Overton in foul trouble they need Q’s midrange jumper and drives to the basket.

by StuHamm on Mar 18, 2010 5:49 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah tell me about it

If UW wins (or loses by 1) hits 70 points and both teams get to 159 I’ll be able to cover all my bad bets (I lost on Vandy by 2 earlier)

by B Money on Mar 18, 2010 6:01 PM PDT up reply actions

Na

I think they’re 3 point shooting will regress and Q is a second half player. I still feel good about the win.

by B Money on Mar 18, 2010 6:05 PM PDT up reply actions

It'll be a close game

I have no idea whos gonna win it, but I’m confident in the overs

by Brian Floyd on Mar 18, 2010 6:05 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah

I put 8 units on over @ 143 when the game opened and I put more on over @ 159 on an in-game bet. This could put me back to even for the day after a miserable run.

by B Money on Mar 18, 2010 6:07 PM PDT up reply actions

New gameplan

let’s give them 6 chances to score per possession

by B Money on Mar 18, 2010 6:11 PM PDT reply actions

Wow

time to pick it up.

by B Money on Mar 18, 2010 6:13 PM PDT reply actions

Now I know why depth doesn't matter in the postseason...

the 5 minute commercial breaks are a nice breather for a team running out only 7 guys.

by StuHamm on Mar 18, 2010 6:22 PM PDT reply actions

It will...

hopefully the dawgs aren’t too far down at that point.

by StuHamm on Mar 18, 2010 6:25 PM PDT up reply actions

Get really pissed when your team is squandering opportunities quickly changes in to raucousness when they start hitting shots and playing quality D!

by seattle_since_81 on Mar 18, 2010 6:46 PM PDT up reply actions

Awesome!!!

Maybe this will shut up those who argue that a team from the Big East is inherently tougher than a west coast team… maybe?

by StuHamm on Mar 18, 2010 6:46 PM PDT reply actions

No doubt

I just like that they didn’t quit. But I have no hope that east coast bias types will give up their ‘tough’ meme.

by StuHamm on Mar 18, 2010 6:50 PM PDT up reply actions

And they got to 143...and 70 respectively

Now I just need them to win and get to 159 and I can sleep well tonight.

I'll just paste this from MontlakeMadness

(don’t worry, I wrote it, so I’m only plagiarizing myself)

What They Do Well: The Lobos are a phenomenal defensive rebounding team, allowing opponents to get offensive rebounds just 26.9% of the time (fifth best in the nation). They’re one of those teams that does pretty much everything well: they’re above average at shooting the three, they block shots, they don’t turn the ball over and they get to the free throw line.

Weaknesses: Their free throw shooting leaves something to be desired (67.7%) and like Marquette, you can score inside the arc against them (allowing opponents to shoot 49.1% from two).

How They Match Up: Because New Mexico does so many things well, they’re a tough matchup for most teams. Since Lorenzo Romar arrived at UW, the Dawgs have hung their hat on their offensive rebounding, yet that’s one of the things that New Mexico is best at preventing. Should the Huskies meet New Mexico, scoring inside would be key, so it would be imperative for Matthew Bryan-Amaning to stay out of foul trouble.

Alot like MU

less good shooters and a couple bigger guys.

Mostly stick to the perimeter and rely on streaky shooting. Another good matchup. They’re only rated 46 by kenpom, I’m only 51% confident they even get past a scrappy Montana team.

How about Elston Turner?

That kid could be special in the next couple years.

Without his contribution, Quincy wouldn’t have the chance to score the game winner.

HUSKIESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My heart is still racing. This team continues to surprise me all year. I thought we would win this game but no way in hell did I think that our 3 point shooting would be so good today. MU did not lose this game, we took it.

him and Siva have had off years, Siva more than AB. What’s the consensus on Bradley, does he go pro after this year.

Guard play.

Seemed like the Huskies were more surehanded with the ball down the stretch compared to Marquette. All of Marquette’s passes were barely getting there or getting swatted away while your backcourt wasn’t making a single stupid pass or needlessly risky pass.

New Mexico

I think we match up very well with New Mexico. Getting by Marquette means we have a great shot at the Sweet 16…then of course we most likely get West Virginia followed by Kentucky. Tall order getting to the Final Four but I think we can play with about anyone this year. With every win the confidence keeps growing.

by John Berkowitz on Mar 19, 2010 7:12 AM PDT reply actions

Awesome game.

A tip of the cap to the Huskies today. Good luck against Pretty Boy Alford, and the rest of the way. I always root for the team that knocks of my team to win the whole thing, so don’t let me down.
