See you in 2011, Masoli. Well, maybe. Thoughts on Masoli's suspension and Sark.

Masoli suspended for the year by Chip Kelly.

Am I the only one who feels like Sark would absolutely not put up with this kind of stuff and would nip it in the bud before UW has a multitude of issues in a short period of time?

Star-divide

Maybe that's me being a UW fan, so I'm looking with purple tinted glasses.  I feel a little like Sark is a cut above the Lane Kiffen type up-and-coming coaches from an integrity standpoint, and I hope I'm not wrong on that.

We know he didn't appear to even consider the USC job, and if he didn't take USC when the opportunity arises, what job would come along to make a guy want to leave UW?  Maybe NFL, but I don't see that happening for a few years yet, if it does happen.

I'm honestly more concerned about his in game management than off the field issues or recruiting.  We've got a top notch recruiter, that much we know.  What we don't know is if these issues Oregon is experiencing is a thing of the future for us, or something we can avoid entirely with Sark.

We also don't know if his in game management will improve.  There are some good signs.  He takes blame and seems to reflect appropriately in his post-game commentary, but still it does concern me.

All in all, there isn't another coach I would prefer to see leading UW football.  Thoughts?

IN SARK WE TRUST

I would be more concerned with losing the stellar assistant coaching staff he has assembled. Everyone of them could make a killing as motivational speakers. Everyone of them are one of the best in the country coaching their positions.

But your always going to have assistants leave for other jobs

That’s just the nature of the beast. You don’t want to see your assistants lateral for other jobs. Usually when that happens it’s about money. On the other hand you want your assistants to take other jobs if it is a promotion, ie. Quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator.

A great head coach can minimize the damage of losing top assistants. You groom their protege. Boise State has had a remarkable run in this department. You have to groom your top young position coaches to become quality coordinators at some point. There’s a fine line between losing top assistants coaches and wanting your top assistants coaches to succeed. Coaching your assistant coaches is just as important as coaching your football team. Because when you coach up your coaches you will always have a quality coaching staff. I think Sark get’s this and we’ll see him promote within when a top assistant departs. I believe in promoting within instead of hiring out. Because when you hire within, your new assistant knows your system and understands your philosophy. but when you hire out, you have to promote your ideas and philosophy to the new coach that was hired out. Doesn’t always work very well.

agree with Mr. Stone

He assembled an excellent staff and it’s going to be tough to keep them for long.

Wake Up Call

I don’t think Sark and Staff would (put up with what’s going on at Oregon) I also think this is a good time to hold a meeting to reinforce what the expectations are at Washington.

That is not annoying enough

You would have to get a lot more like most Duck Fans for that to happen, downrite obnoxious would do the trick

Not close to being annoying.

Seems to be a reinforcement of what we have all been saying.

New coaches in the future

Yes, we will lose good coaches in the future. But remember, Sark got this staff as a rookie HC taking over a 0-11 program. Until proven wrong, I expect him to replace quality coaches with quality coaches. Remember, he had 2 coaches that he lost before they knew where their desk was, while others turned down his offers.

I am also confident that game day decisions are being addressed now. When the NFL went to the 2 point extra point, all the coaches ended up with the college cheat sheet to figure out when to go for 1 or 2. No doubt the staff will revisit the decisions they made last year, and have other dry runs to be better prepared. And that doesn’t mean they won’t run the ball 8 times again inside the 10….next year they will expect to score!

I am just trying to figure out how this made it to Duck sports news.com

I just wasted 3 minutes of a perfectly good Sunday, and exposed myself to way to much purple for my comfort, to read a feel good piece about Sarkisian. LOL. Can’t wait to get you guys in Eugene next year! Oh and nice job taking out Cal, wait did I just write that? Crap, homer fail.

Well, I simply wrote it quickly more or less to put up the link to Masoli's firing.

I had never heard of ducksportnews.com, but find it funny that this little “piece” made the link list.

oh, and “Homer fail” got me to chuckle.

No Biggie Deal

Sark is our coach of now and into the near future at least. Game day will get better because it won’t be so stinking nail biter close every game. Cal and WSU were great games, not just wins.

As for the Quack Boys, what can I say? The day of the duck will fade away.
