Game 3 Against OSU

It's a little bit weird to write a preview for the same team twice in a row. Frankly, not much has changed aside from the importance of the game. Lorenzo Romar has said that the team is focused on this one and not looking ahead to ASU (though at the moment, Stanford is beating them), and that this is a must win for the Dawgs tourney chances. He's right, of course.

It will be interesting to see how Quincy Pondexter performs. He says he doesn't hold a grudge and that he's not real upset about losing out on POY, but when you hear him speak and get to know his character, you get the feeling that he feels differently than he says he does. How's this for a grudge: after not being named a McDonalds All-American in high school, he went from eating McDonalds every day to going 3 years without eating it. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see Quincy playing with a bit of a chip on his shoulder. Though he is nursing a mild illness, so keep an eye on that: Coach may have to limit his minutes.

Aside from that it's the same stuff as Saturday: 1-3-1 zone, diagonal passes, push the tempo, IT dribble penetration, MBALive, etc.

Anyone know where you can watch the game on-line?

Try this

http://www.justin.tv/loyal916#r=Ccgsg7w~

and I bet the = sign makes the link not work correctly, so just copy and paste it into your address bar.

by thecassino on Mar 11, 2010 8:44 PM PST up reply actions

This is just a rumor at this point, nothing official

But there is buzz that both Terrence Jones and Terrence Ross are going to commit to UW.

Obviously, I’ll be watching this closely and if/when anything becomes official I’ll be on top of it as soon as I stop celebrating and regain consciousness.

by thecassino on Mar 11, 2010 8:01 PM PST reply actions

Here's your link

Rumor by Percy posted it.

I don’t know if anyone knows what Jones is doing, though

by cougfan on Mar 11, 2010 8:55 PM PST up reply actions

ASU lost

So if we win we play Stanford.

by thecassino on Mar 11, 2010 8:21 PM PST reply actions

So, what's this do with bids?

Assume UW wins tonight and they’re in?

by cougfan on Mar 11, 2010 8:48 PM PST up reply actions

Makes sense

I figured win the semis and you’re in, but then again I expected ASU to be there.

by cougfan on Mar 11, 2010 8:53 PM PST up reply actions

I love Marques Johnson

But I hate how often he says overpenetration.

by thecassino on Mar 11, 2010 9:06 PM PST reply actions

Still far and away the best FSN has

But you could get hammered playing a drinking game with that

by cougfan on Mar 11, 2010 9:07 PM PST up reply actions

Agreed

But at this point in his career he’s the worst player in the rotation

by thecassino on Mar 11, 2010 9:17 PM PST up reply actions

Agreed

Playing out of shape leads to more fouls and doesn’t work in this system

by cougfan on Mar 11, 2010 9:18 PM PST up reply actions

If Gaddy can develop an outside shot

It would really go a long way. They can sit back and cut his drives off

by cougfan on Mar 11, 2010 9:24 PM PST reply actions

He has one...

he just may be the least confident shooter in the country

by B Money on Mar 11, 2010 9:25 PM PST up reply actions

Yea, I've seen it

He needs to actually use it. I’d be telling him to put it up. Make the defense respect it at least

by cougfan on Mar 11, 2010 9:26 PM PST up reply actions

Anyone else hear that

The only UW player to score in the last 10 mins is Turner.

Good D there

by cougfan on Mar 11, 2010 9:29 PM PST reply actions

*sigh*

finally get a foul called

by B Money on Mar 11, 2010 9:30 PM PST reply actions

then they mug MBA and nothing...

I have to think Larry Scott knows that the Pac-10 officals reputation preceeds them.

by B Money on Mar 11, 2010 9:31 PM PST up reply actions

excuse me

would anybody like this ball?

oh you would? here.

by KENtastic on Mar 11, 2010 9:33 PM PST reply actions

Pondexter needs touches!

Even if it’s only to just pass it again, he should have his hands on the ball more.

FINALLY MBA

by tintin on Mar 11, 2010 9:33 PM PST reply actions

well...

yay for scotch at least!

by B Money on Mar 11, 2010 9:42 PM PST reply actions

I can't decide what's more frustrating.

Our offense not getting off their ground or their desperation shots all going in. OSU might as well just have someone hold the ball at the 3 point line and launch it once the shot clock gets under 5.

by tintin on Mar 11, 2010 9:45 PM PST up reply actions

Have we won a game yet where we were down by 10 or more?

I can’t remember us making any come back wins this year :(

by tintin on Mar 11, 2010 9:43 PM PST reply actions

You guys are making it sound like we're terrible...

The only difference is that they’ve made 3 more 3-pointers in 2 less attempts.

by lailaihei on Mar 11, 2010 9:47 PM PST reply actions

22 points in 20 mintues is terrible for this team

we’re not shooting well and we can’t break their zone at all

by B Money on Mar 11, 2010 9:54 PM PST up reply actions

also

38% from the floor and going 8 minutes without points won’t get it done.

by B Money on Mar 11, 2010 9:56 PM PST up reply actions

they were

playing terrible, no emotion. I have watched everygame for 5 years. first 25 minutes were the worst i haves seen

by CODawg on Mar 11, 2010 10:27 PM PST up reply actions

Tournament

if they are going to play like this, i would rather they didnt make the tourney

by CODawg on Mar 11, 2010 9:55 PM PST reply actions

Venoy can't make a FT

but he’ll be goddamned if that’s gonna stop him from trying

by B Money on Mar 11, 2010 10:05 PM PST reply actions

why

do we look so bad. its like we have never seen this defense

by CODawg on Mar 11, 2010 10:08 PM PST reply actions

qpon

ready to take them on his back

by CODawg on Mar 11, 2010 10:13 PM PST reply actions

Apparently

10 minutes of Washington basketball is equivalent to 30 minutes of Oregon State basketball and 30 minutes of horrible reffing.

I guess if they keep playing the rest of the half, we should be fine.

by busplunger on Mar 11, 2010 10:17 PM PST reply actions

Let's start a fund

to offset the price the bookies are paying, so we can get a fair game.

by B Money on Mar 11, 2010 10:17 PM PST reply actions

Note to Craig Robinson

don’t let your freshman shoot desparate threes in the biggest game of the year. I don’t care if he made 2 in the first 5 mintues.

by B Money on Mar 11, 2010 10:24 PM PST reply actions

I know...

but at least let one of the Seniors take that heat

by B Money on Mar 11, 2010 10:27 PM PST up reply actions

I would hate for this to be Q's

last meaningful game. One of my favorite Dawgs ever.

by B Money on Mar 11, 2010 10:28 PM PST reply actions

Next stop Stanford!

Let’s hope this game got their tournament jitters out of the way. Stanford is going to kill us if we have a first half like we had tonight.

by tintin on Mar 11, 2010 10:53 PM PST reply actions

And...

The big sigh of relief.

by busplunger on Mar 11, 2010 10:53 PM PST reply actions

gaddy

Hopefully gaddy can bounce back tomorrow

With Apologies To Randy Edsall, The Big East Remains Mostly Harmless

FILE -- This is an Oct. 18, 2008 file photo showing Connecticut corner back Jasper Howard (6) trying to get the crowd into the game during the fourth quarter of an NCAA college football game against Rutgers, in Piscataway, N.J. Jasper Howard had his little sisters' names tatooed on his chest. His friends say it was a constant reminder of why he was at U Conn _ to provide his family with a better life than the one he had in Miami's Little Haiti. (AP Photo/Mel Evans, File) link
