Gameday at Hec Ed
UCLA Bruins at Washington Huskies, Feb 20, 2010 6:00 PM PST
The Huskies are 0-2 when playing on ESPN (@Texas Tech and @Cal). Fortunately, this time they get to play at home, where they have had a lot of success against UCLA recently.
Over the last 4 games, Matthew Bryan-Amaning is averaging 12.5 points to go with 6.75 rebounds. It seems as if he has had something click and has become the Huskies' 3rd option. He needs to continue his solid play, because UCLA's Reeves Nelson is no pushover in the post.
It's likely to be an emotional night for Quincy Pondexter, who is playing his final game at Edmundson Pavillion. Surely the DawgPack will give the Pac-10 POY contender a fitting sendoff, and lets hope he harnesses his emotions and uses them to be a positive in tonight's game.

Can't Complain
23 point lead going into half-time. Hope the Dawgs come out strong in the second half to lock up the victory early
It's a little wrong to say a tomato is a vegetable, it's very wrong to say it's a suspension bridge
Good for Pondexter
I love seeing him leave but ill miss seeing him play. He grew up a ton at UW and impressed me

WOW
Good win, but now that the huskies have not had a great season no one watches the games and comments anymore?
Great National Exposure
Having the College Game Day set in front of the Dawg Pack was brilliant. The show showcased what a great program Romar has built and will continue to build. Let’s keep in mind that although we are losing QPon to graduation, everybody else is coming back. Their was a lot of chatter of Pac 10 championships this early season and some contimpated the notion of winning a national championship (big stretch for now…).
I had a feeling early on that we would struggle some this season, because it is hard to replace a Jon Brockman and Justin Dentmon. Yet the showcase last night might get us over the hump. If we can manage to win the next 3 games (WSU, Oregon, and OSU) and make an impression in the Pac 10 tourney then I feel we will get invited to the big dance. Everybody is saying the Pac 10 will get 1 or 2 invites. I still think we get 3 and if we can put together a little winnning streak we still have a legit shot at dancing.
All I saw was purple
If UW runs out and makes it to the tourney finals
they could get an at-large if some of these bubble teams s the bed.
If they make it to the tourney finals against, say, ASU or UCLA and lose it could give the league 3 bids…I’ll set the odds at about 250:1.
Still I think it could happen.
Not so fast casino
If Cal wins the regular season and Arizona State continues to win down the stretch, I think both get invited. However if someone beside Cal and ASU win the Pac 10 tournament, then that could mean we get 3 invites.
The selection commitees of the past have been friendly to BCS conferences and I think there is a possiblity of that happening again.
All I saw was purple
Arizona State has to win out to be considered
For them to do that, they’d have to beat Cal. If Cal loses another conference game after getting their hat handed to them by OSU, they’re probably not getting an at large.
1 of those teams can get an at large. Not both.
Big key to Washington winning (and it was on display last night)
Opposing defenders are going to defend QPon, MBA, and IT. But will NOT defend Holiday or Gant on the perimeter. To open up opportunities for QPon, MBA, and IT- Holiday and Gant must make the opponent defend them. If Holiday and Gant can knock down that jumper consistently then the opposition must put a body on them. If they are not knocking down that jumper then the opposing defender can cheat over and help where help is needed.
I love to see Holiday and Gant knock those down, because when they do, we usually come up with a W.
All I saw was purple
I agree probably only one spot for Pac 10 in NCAA – maybe two if CAL wins out but does not win PAC 10 tourney but Cal would also have to have a good showing in PAC 10 tourney.
Qpon big loss for next year – big shoes to fill – we could not fill Brockman and Dentmon’s this year. Nor have we replaced the loss of coaches Bones and Dollar. We could not challenge in a weak league. We really need some infusion of talent and better coaching. IMHO
