MORA fired by Seahawks!!!

Jim  Mora was fired this AM  after just one year as the head coach of the Seahawks. He was in such a bad spot following Mike Holmgren and he really wasn't given a fair chance. Just glad that he was unavailable when the Dawgs hired Sark. Softy got a call from a reporter from ESPN and a confirmation text from Jim Mora at about 10:30 am this morning. The Hawks have officially made this public as well.

Rumor...

Pete Carroll is the guy they want, and i guess Carroll is very interested. This really doesn’t make sence.

I think it makes tons of sense.

Carroll has talked about wanting to get back into the NFL for a few years.

Makes you wonder if Carroll knew something about the Reggie Bush case.

ESPN is reporting that Carrol is almost a done deal...

this could be huge for the Pac-10 in a couple of ways

1) Obviously no more Carrol means a (at least in the short term) weaker USC.
2) Sanctions could be on the way and could be the deathblow the Pac-10 has needed to get out from under Pete’s reign. This could also greatly effect the upcoming TV and Bowl contract negotiations if indeed the sanctions come before these.

Bonus for UW:

Alot of recruits on the fence could be headed our way…I’m thinking Shirley and Pullard could head up north.

Although a lot of people have proven they can't

I think just about anyone can win at SC. I’m not impressed with the hire if it works out that way, Carroll does well with an advantage but when the field’s even we’ll see. I just wish I didn’t have to wait and see with my season tickets.

I agree...

although it’s being labeled as President and HC so he might have some serious control over personel. That might prove to be a good thing for him. He clearly has an eye for talent, I just hope he presses the NFL coach button and gets a little more serious about his duties.

He's 58 years old...

…he’s won it all more than once at SC, he’s got plenty of money. Why not give it a shot and then hang it up? He probably figured he’d only coach a few more years anyway. Not everyone wants to be JOEPA.
