Wow...Seattle U beats Oregon State by 51 points!
Seattle U finally put it all together tonight beating Oregon State on the road in front of a regional television audience 99-48 in a road game. SU has struggled for consistency over the first two months of the season under new Head Coach Cameron Dollar but tonight they put it all together for a signiature win over a Pac 10 team
What makes this win even more intriuging is SU's best player Charles Garcia wasn't much of a factor. He had only one pint in the first 35 minutes and finished with 10 for the night. Chris Gweth (18 points), Cervante Burrell (17), Mike Boxley (16) and Aaron Broussard (15) led the Redhawks to what might have been their most impressive win since returning to D-I ball after a 29-year absence. The win came against an OSU team that took both Washington and Washington State down to the wire last weekend.
Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times who was at the game provides the wrap up.

I'm starting to wonder....
in a completely non-binding way, who was the better coach? Romar or Dollar? Don’t know much about Dollar except that I loved him as a player and was pissed when he got a recruiting violation. Romar walked into a very nice situation but hasn’t really shown me much as a coach except for riding the reputation of that team on the recruiting road. I’m not saying he’s not a good coach because he certainly projects the right image, but I’m wondering if he’s missing Cam and doesn’t get some of the nuances of coaching himself.
Part of the job is surrounding yourself with good assistants and it must suck to lose one to a future rival. I’m starting to be very wary of SU. I think Romar should be as well.
Romar or Dollar?
The better coach was probably Joe Callero who moved on to Cal Poly.
SU has actually underperformed this season based on the talent on hand until last night. A string of last minute losses to inferior opponents capped by a home loss to Harvard had some folks shaking their heads.
All that being said to be fair it takes awhile for a coach and a new team to get used to each other. Same thing for Romar and his current team….both are and were going through some growing pains. I have a feeling that the loss to Oregon will shake Romar’s troops up enough that they will go on a run.
Hair, this is the same SU team that was routed by Harvard in its last game.
Do we criticize Dollar for that beating? Watching the game on TV, SU got hot, and then OSU quit. Plain and simple, the Beavs weren’t even trying after halftime. By then most of their fans had left too. This is however, very bad for the pAC 10 ratings and will hurt for the dance. PS, UCLA upset Cal and Stanford upset a USC team which also has probably thrown in the towel after being sacrificed by the football deities at USC.
Hey, just realized, just like the old days of the 3 of us BSing.
Thats nice
I was just wondering what you were up to yesterday Prrbrr.

Yeah, I realize that prrbrr
but I satill wonder. There’s not as much player development as I’d like under Romar. Guys don’t seem to improve. It’s purely subjective but I’d like to se guys get better quicker.

Players don't improve?
Was Brandon Roy not one of the best players in the nation his senior year? Did Jon Brockman not improve every year? Have you seen Quincy Pondexter this year? Justin Dentmon was a conference POY candidate last year. Isaiah Thomas has improved a great deal between last season and this. Look at MBA’s numbers: upward every season.
Romar does a great job of developing his players, but there’s only so much he can do. Most of the burden falls upon the players, and the guys who make the biggest jumps are those who take it upon themselves to improve (as Dentmon and Pondexter did).

Harvard is actually a very good team.
And led by a potential NBA PG in Jeremy Lin.

The Loss doesn’t count towards OSU RPI.
The Tunnel is Hallowed and Sacred Ground
My guess would be because SU isn't NCAA elligible
But it’s largely irrelevant. The RPI is a meaningless stat, and pretty much nobody uses it any more. And Oregon State isn’t going to be in a position to have their RPI examined.

I think that was the statement.

Did I eat too fast?
The Beavs had 29 points when I started dinner. Afterwords, I checked the score and the Beavs had 29 points. Total domination by Garcia from the bench with 4 fouls and less than 5 points until later in the game.
