PrintNot a great start by Oregon in game one with Boise leading 13-0 with under a minute to go in the first half. The Ducks are in trouble. Oregon picked up only 14 yards in the first half. Go Ducks...I love it! The great thing about college football is nobody has a real clue on how teams are going to perform from year to year.

I despise the Ducks as much as anyone. But I hate to see one of the “best” Pac-10 teams get shown up by a team that’s so bush league that they play on blue artificial turf. (I actually respect BSU, but…)
I’d rather see the league pull this one out, and then see OU fail miserably in conference play.

I concede
I do respect BSU, but hate their field so much that it’s hard to consider them as bona fide—the bush league comment was tongue-in-cheek based upon that aspect.
As for UO (misspelled above), they have been recognized in the national media as one of our better teams the last several years, and I’ve always been a Pac-10 guy when it comes to inter-conference success. So I hate to see us embarrassed.
But personally, just when I thought my opinion couldn’t get any lower, I see that fiasco tonight on national TV…
The State of Oregon is a wonderful place, with much to offer. But I now can find no alternative but to build a fence around Eugene and starve out all the anarchists, Phil Knight, and the other drunken slobbering idiots who disgrace it. We… must… crush… the… Ducks.

he punched a bronco after being tapped on the shoulder pad. later, as his own teammates were calling him out on it he got violent w/ them. then finally he tried to fight a fan or two who took issue w/ his gunslinging and was escorted out by some cops.

I don’t think he was able to reach the fans as they backed off when he came at them. But there was a couple of them taunting him and he went right in there, almost looked like another NBA type incident.

So who watched the game tonight
and saw a very beatable Oregon team? Couldn’t stop the run, couldn’t handle simple cut backs, couldn’t run the ball, couldn’t pass the ball. Fourteen yards at halftime and quintupled up on T.O.P. just 3 minutes into the 3rd quarter, five three-and-outs in a row…. the list goes on.

I actually found those shoulder-pad wings to be evocative of a Roman garland that brought to mind a solidarity with the gladiator mindset that many collegiate football players associate themselves with. At the very least it was a tasteful change of pace from the sewage green and hangover piss-colored yellow that the O has trotted out so regularly this decade.

Bellotti said after the game that Blount’s future will be a university decision. That the athletic director and the university president will consult and make a decision on whether or not to suspend him or remove him permanently.
If they care about the integrity of the game and their fan base they will kick him off the team. But, really, what a wonderful night of football! I laughed so hard. Too bad they really embarassed their school and the Pac Ten.

Call me crazy, but this seems like a terrible idea. Belotti after the game: “we need to run the ball more.” Bellotti is Oregon’s Don James (which speaks to the relative quality of the two programs at issue here); when a local football legend is the boss of the current head coach, it makes both men worse at their jobs. Bellotti won’t help himself when it comes to back-seat driving and for Chip Kelly that has to be a little like a rookie Nascar driver having Richard Petty riding shotgun for every race. Yikes.
