Tim Tucker cleared
The NCAA clearing house as approved the transcripts of LB Tim Tucker. Tucker practiced yesterday while a waiver was pending. Today, that waiver was accepted and he is officially on the roster. Coach Sark said he was impressed with Tucker’s patience throughout the process. He is a remarkable person and handled this situation very well. A special thanks to our compliance office led by Kyle Pifer, for all of their efforts during this process.
Tucker was doing well and ticketed for early playing time before he had to sit out in NCAA induced limbo. As far as the depth chart goes he was probably second string at the time it happened. Injuries to the front liners will have a lot to do with whether he plays or not this year. Same thing for Jordan Wallace. Both of those could contribute this season but I think the coaches would like to redshirt them if possible. Same thing goes for the three freshman defensive linemen.

Soo, are you saying that the NCAA Clearinghouse caused Tim Tucker to go from being a second stringer and playing this year to redshirting? The NCAA Clearinghouse. Not an injury, or competition. But the NCAA Clearinghouse. I am curious, colleges have the NCAA policing them, who poilces the NCAA Clearinghouse? This seems like it could be an infraction of good administration. Lol. Sad, this NCAA organization. They seem like a pretty incompetent group. Florida State issue hanging out there; USC issue(s) hanging out there, Michigan, Alabama being penalized for players selling school books (WTF?) administration screwups adversely effecting players , etc. I know there is nothing anyone can do and that we are stuck with this nebelous group (“who ARE those guys”), but really….
Redshirt him
Tucker needs to get physically ready and learn the plays so that he can hit the ground running next year. We’ll be ok this year.
I am always for Redshirting unless absolutely necessary
no matter what, a 22 year old is going to be more physically and mentally prepared than an 18 year old. The only thing is if there are injuries or a player is just that gifted…James Johnson.
Desmond Trufant
I am hearing some amazing things about him.
The highest rating a freshman ever got from DJ was 1.4…that meant you were capable of starting a game in your first year in the fourth game.
Johnson and Trufant are 1.4’s.
The thing that is interesting about Trufant despite the bloodlines is he was lightly recruited. The new staff saw his film and fell in love with him.
a welcome surprise
and it couldn’t have come at a better time. As you know we desperately need help at corner.
