Craziness! I like it- WOOF!!!

Sark and Holt are bringing in tactics that Pete Carroll brought in. Did you all see the video of Carroll going into the USC media room full of USC football players? Carroll came running in dressed as Will Farrell from Taladega Nights- had the racing suit and helmet on and everything. Can you picture Carroll doing something so crazi?

This is the part of the Ty regime that Ty missed the boat on. With what I am seeing- Sark and Holt have learned from the master of motivation and will prepare this football team for just about anything standing in its way. Get crazi…

Go Dawgs! WOOF!!!!

Sorry Crazi, but if you throw a fastball down the middle, I'm going to knock it out of the park.

“Sark and Holt have learned from the master of motivation”

Interesting, Pete Carroll the master of motivation, yet he couldn’t motivate his team to beat a lowly UW team. Hopefully they don’t follow Pete’s lead and have a big letdown this week.

Lear I think I mentioned that I believed USC could possibly lose 4 games this season. Clearly USC has slipped. Talent is still there but I think they have chemistry issues and clearly they don’t have the QB play of Palmer and Linehart. Sanchez was just coming into his own last season.

One demise of the USC program is that the coaching staff has been picked apart lately. Ask Bob Stoops how difficult it is to hire in the same grade A assistants. Harder then it appears. They don’t grow them on trees you know. Eventually your beloved Meyer will endure what Carroll and Stoops have gone thru- trying to replace top assistants. If Meyer gets to another BCS championship, look for his assistants to be picked apart. I’m very surprised his D coordinator came back- he’s a HOT comodity coming up.

And for the most part...

I was referring to the craziness that Carroll brings to practices and team meetings. That stuff brings in all sorts of “team unity” and you gotta have team unity to play for championships.

Nuff of this- bring on the Furd!

I am all for team unity

I love the video, I love the energy and the passion. But you can keep Pete’s crazy crap, a coach showing up in a costume doesn’t accomplish anything.

Back to my point, Pete Carroll needs to work on motivating his team each and every week. So far it looks like Sark is better than his mentor on this one, but we’ll find out for sure on Saturday.

No...

But I am sure recruits dig it and the players love the enthusiastic style. Don’t knock Carroll too much. He’s won 2 national championships, 4 Rose Bowls, 1 Orange Bowl, and a countless amount of Pac 10 titles in this decade.

I don’t think Pete needs to work on motivating his team too much. Sometimes on any given saturday the other team is better. USC was not better then Washington last week. Sure they are more talented. But we were better prepared both mentally and physically. It was a home game for us and the atmosphere was perfect. We played like the better team and the better team that day won.

USC was banged up, have issues with their QBs and secondary, not to mention a revamped coaching staff and chemistry issues. Talent looks good on paper, but at the end of the day if you’ve got QB problems, a secondary not gelling, a coaching staff not on the same page, and chemistry issues- talent is trumped.

But give Carroll his due- he’s been the most successful head football coach in the land this decade. Believe me both Sark and Holt were taking notes.

Too bad he can't win the easy games.

How many years in a row is it now that he has lost to Oregon State (twice), Stanford, and now us? Pete needs to learn how to motivate his team each and EVERY week, not just for big teams.

Don’t kid yourself, USC was the better team, we played harder than they did, they made mistakes, and we won. Lucky for us the final score is all that matters, because 9 out of 10 times USC would have beat us.

Easy

I don’t think the average fan realizes how hard it is to go undefeated even with superior talent.

I completely agree

But USC obviously loses one game a year against a lesser Pac 10 team.

Sort of like Mike Price

Did I really say that?

Here is the deal…the band is there and Sark and Holt are not in costume….nuff said.

So what are you saying?

I’m quite sure the coaching staff organized this in-your-face rally. Brought in the band and cheer squad. What’s the “nuff said” about?

The coaches aren't dressed up in costumes

Price used to like to dress up in costumes to fire his team up. One time he rode a white horse onto the playing field dressed up like Tommy Trojan.

Emotion

Emotion is such a big part of college football…Ty and his staff had not emotion.

Just for the record…DJ feels he would have would won 6-7 games last year if he was the head coach and had the same talent that Willngham had at his disposal. That is based on the the type of staff he usually had at UW.

WOW!

I’m surprised DJ would make a comment like that?

I can't argue with James

If he says he could’ve I firmly believe him. One critical area where TW failed was making Locker the soul offense. Sure we had Louis Rankin in Locker’s first season, but you have to think their were two options- Locker or Rankin.

That puts our QB in harms way. Even if Locker was a multi purpose or dual threat QB- he is more exposed to injury then actual ball carriers. RBs have the ability to protect themselves with the ball. They tuck the ball under and run low to the ground in order to obsorb contact. But when you are a scrambling QB, for the most part you are upright and cannot protect thy self. That and the coaching staff’s unsaid message to Locker that “it’s all on you”.

Sark has groomed Locker to play within the offense as any pro style QB aught to. He has to trust his teammates will make plays for him, and he’s doing this. From here on out, actually since the day Sark arrived- Locker is done being the offense. You won’t see anymore called QB counters off tackle for Locker anymore. If he runs the play is designed to keep him safe. Locker’s had chances to burst out of the pocket for big gaines, but has opted to step up and deliver a pass instead. This is what we need from Locker. We don’t need him taking off and exposing him to serious injury any more. It’s over … the days of seeing No.10 running for his life is officially over and it’s good.

No. 10 is no longer the offense, but in a way he still is. The ball goes through him on every snap of the football. He has to make decisions and manage the offense- something TW failed. We lost No. 10 to serious injury the last two seasons and Sark’s not about to let that happen anytime soon. As I am sure James would’ve done just the same.
