Quinton Richardson..."Guarantees Win against USC"
Quinton Richardson CB 6'0" 203lb CB for the University of Washington Huskies Footbal Team has spoken out and GUARANTEES a Huskies Footbal Win over USC. I love the optimism, but we do not need to give a visiting team fodder for there bulletin boards. We should be doing the talking on the field not in the press. Show the progress by playing a great game. I love it, it will make interesting come Saturday. Woof...Woof...Woof... GO DAWGS!!!

Quinton called to confirm the quote?
"Legends are made on the shores of Lake Washington"
"BOW DOWN TO WASHINGTON"
I recall reading the quote earlier . . .
and know I can’t find it. But I thought it was being stretched a bit. It sounded more like “we are going to get ready to beat USC,” which is a far cry from predicting a win.
Anybody know where to find the exact quote?
"Legends are made on the shores of Lake Washington"
"BOW DOWN TO WASHINGTON"
now I can't find it
still can’t spell
"Legends are made on the shores of Lake Washington"
"BOW DOWN TO WASHINGTON"
Great that's all we need...
…to get them fired up to play.
Washington Husky Football-Undefeated 1991 National Champions 12-0!
Quinton's gonna lay the lumber
This is the kind of confidence I want to see coming from Purple and Gold!!
Expect to win and don’t be afraid to say so. We have some guys buying in!
“Ive decided to make you a special project of mine”
Go Dawgs!
???
I called…only blogging from what is being reported by the press or news media. KJR…206-286-9595

Pretty sure I saw somebody quote him in writing
racking my brain trying to figure out where.
"Legends are made on the shores of Lake Washington"
"BOW DOWN TO WASHINGTON"
Coach's Show
Listened to Sark last night, on my local Tricities channel by the way! He said what Quinton actually said is that “We expect to win”. He said the reporter just changed it and ran with it.
Washington Husky Football-Undefeated 1991 National Champions 12-0!
That sounds like what I read
When I read the quote I was surprised that it was being made a big deal. Funny how reporters can twist something to make it what they want it to be.
"Legends are made on the shores of Lake Washington"
"BOW DOWN TO WASHINGTON"
I like to know where they get there sources.
Quote From Nick Daschel
I won’t go as far as Washington’s Quinton Richardson and Chris Polk, who guarantee a win over USC on Saturday in Husky Stadium.

Did you read his column? He has a link to his source right there in the column:

"Expext to Win"
I guess the mantra of “Expect to Win” means gauranteeing a win.

Let’s play a thought exercise. Which is more likely:
- A young player, fresh off his first taste of victory in 16 games, let’s his confidence get the best of him and says he guarantees a win against USC. His coach, unhappy with the bulletin board material, scrambles to keep this from becoming a big deal and covers for his player by claiming that the reporter mis-quoted the player.
- A reporter intentionally mis-quotes a player, risking that added hits to his paper’s website will outweigh negative feelings generated with the UW coaching staff.
C’mon guys, this isn’t that hard – Q goofed, Sark is trying to cover for him. Let’s quit blaming the media for everything.
Thanks for the link kirkd
I knew I had seen the quote in print somewhere. Here is the part of the article that applies to our discussion:
"We’ve got to keep going with the wins, and we can eventually beat SC," he said. "It starts now."
When Richardson was asked whether he expected to beat USC on Saturday, he said: "Yeah."
After adding that he "guaranteed" a victory this Saturday, Richardson was asked whether he was concerned about giving the Trojans any bulletin board material.
"Nah," he said. "No bulletin board material. We’re just going to keep it all on the field and talk with our pads."
I think the first two lines are just fine, “we can eventually beat USC,” and he expects to beat USC, no bulletin board material there. I’m curious why there is no quote of the “guarantee”, and wonder why “guarantee” is in paranthesis. My best guess is that Quinton was feeling good after the win, said more than he should of and the reporter took it as a “guarantee”. Without a quote like “I guarantee we are going to beat USC”, I’m going to have to take Sark’s side on this one, just seems a bit stretched to me.

My take of that is Quinton said “We can eventually beat SC. It starts now” Reporter asks him he expected to beat SC on Saturday. Quinton says “Yeah”. Reporter follows up with “Guarantee?” And Quinton responds “Guaranteed”.
And he did quote Richardson in this part of the article:
Richardson went as far as to promise a win over the third-ranked Trojans.
"Guaranteed," he said, nodding his head.
Either Johnson or Sark is fibbing here. IMO, Sark has far more motivation to do so.
If he said it . . .
he better back it up!
"Legends are made on the shores of Lake Washington"
"BOW DOWN TO WASHINGTON"
Then you get into...
a “he said she said thing” and nobody will really know what happened. Reporters are notorious for twisting/misquoting people. Young athletes can say things they’re not supposed to.

There are many instances of reporters making stuff up. There are many more instances of young athletes running their mouths. And there are many instances of coaches lying to cover up things – think back to the Lambo years for a local example.
