Two New Husky Verbals from California
Washington picked up a couple of new verbals last night from Jordan HS in Los Angeles.
John Timu is a 6'2 195 lb QB, listed as a WR, but will play DB at Washington. The other Pac 10 school to offer him thus far was Oregon. Princeton Fuimaono is a 6'1 205 lb WLB who has yet to be reviewed by Scout.com.
Jordan HS is located in the Watts neighborhood of Los Angeles. How many times did Tyrone Willingham pull a kid out of Central LA? What this means is Washington is making huge progress recruiting the inner city area of LA, using the contacts Sark and Holt developed while coaching at USC.
We have spoken a lot about rebuilding the traditional Husky toughness that was legendary under Owens, James and Lambo. Bringing in kids from the inner city is a big piece of that puzzle.
Washington now has 15 verbals secured for the 2010 class and is expected to take a full class of 25. Should UW identify a junior college lineman or two who can qualify for winter quarter admission, they may end up exceeding the 25-man limit in this class.

Recognized some names
Looked at the super preps page on Princeton Fuimaono in a game against Lakewood. Jordan won 21-14 and Princeton Fuimaono had 10 tackles and John Timu had 2 interceptions. The quarterback for Lakewood? Jesse Scroggins. Current Husky Talia Crichton had 1 or 2 sacks in the game for lakewood. Interesting stuff. These 2 recruits certainly have not been playing against a bunch of no names. I bet you their stars increase after the upcoming season.
This is great news
Need to get some animals on the defensive side of the ball. Haven’t seen Timu’s film but here’s the link to Fuimaono’s. Dude is a straight up football player that flies around and finds the ball. Great to have them.
These guys are first team All Hair for sure
Gotta love the ’do they sport.
Princeton looks great in the vids. I like how he twists guys on the tackle making sure they are down
Wow
Great ability, 3.0GPA, fast, and at 210 pounds he is probably bigger than Aaron Curry was at this age. He will fill out.
Found a vid for Timu
It’s a passing league vid where Timu is playing QB and DB against Jesse Scroggins
Check the vid at 1:42, Timu flies through the air and intercepts a pass in the nosebleed section. SICK
Does Anyone Know...
…if Princeton Fuimaono is related to mid-80’s UW lineman Andy Fuimaono?

Princeton
Plays a little high but that is minor. He is a great blitzer and has really good closing speed when attacking the ball. He flies around which is what we need on Def. So far I am very impressed with this kid and wont be surprised to see him move up a little bit in the recruiting ranks after/during his senior year.
I hope he likes the weight room
Because with his motor and whole lot of strength he could do great things.
Brent Williams commits !
Brent Williams the DE from Taft has committed.
Woot! An athlete a OLB and now a DE this week. Nice gets Sark and Co.
Yeah Dawg!!!
I was reading an article on him… they said he was manhandling everybody as a DE at the USC camp
Love it!

17 sacks last year
Amazing considering Williams wasn’t even 200lbs last year though his frame should be able to hold a lot more. I’m thinking he turns into a Pass Rush specialist as he clearly has the knack for getting to the QB.
It also puts us in position to recruit the hell out of Junior to be Antuan Woods who will be heavily sought after
Wow!
Biography:
Had 17 sacks, 59 tackles and 29 tackles for loss as a 2008 junior at Woodland Hills (Calif.) Taft. Earned First Team All-West Valley League, Second Team All-City and was 2nd in voting for City Section Defensive Lineman of the Year. Tied the Taft school record with 17 sacks in a season and set the L.A. City Section record for most TFLs, 29, for -211 yards.
3.0 GPA.
How does a player like this not have had tons of offers by now?
Most likely his size
Taft plays in a tough league as well so it’s against worthy opponents.
Size more than likely. If you look at some video of him from a USC camp this year, he shows great speed and quickness in getting to the QB, but his body type is more long than thick. I’m sure he can eventually get to 230-240, but he’ll be a “V” shaped guy rather than a thick guy. As long as he keeps his quickness while bulking up, he should be a pretty good pass-rushing OLB, but he’s probably not stout enough to handle run-stopping as a DE.
If he has another good season as a Sr., you’ll probably see more programs trying to come after him.
Could be a lot of things. It’s easy to slip under the radar with the amount of talent in L.A.
Until he showed up to the combines and camps this summer and showed what he was about he was under the radar. I expect his stock will rise as soon as the season starts, same with the Timu and Fuimaono
