Skyler Fancher: U-District Crime Fighter

Skyler Fancher helped run down a petty thief in the University District the other day and this is the story as told by the Seattle Times Jerry Brewer.

It reminds of a time when I was a 19 year old at Lake Tahoe and I watched a guy snag a purse from a lady outside a casino. She screamed and I chased him down for what seemed forever till he dropped the purse and took off into the night. I returned the purse to the lady who promptly grabbed it out of my hands, hit me with it, and never said thank you to the amusement of security guards who hadn't given chase.

It looks like the victim in Skyler's story was a little more grateful. ; )

On another note this has now become a national story thanks to Jerry.

Two great stories

Another great one was about a purse snatcher and a UW cop. The late teen/early 20s punk grabbed a purse and took off. A campus cop followed him on foot. No doubt the punk figured he just had to run a 100 yards to ditch the cop….maybe another 100 yards. What he didn’t know was the cop was an ultra marathoner (I had never heard of the term, they run 50 miles for fun).

He had to be thinking that another 100 yards and the old cop will drop. When the punk finally dropped, the cop caught him, and his heart rate had yet to even increase.

Good work Skyler, and you too John.

Enjoyed it!

Love to have great character on the team and relish reading about heroism rather than some guy in police custody, ala cougville.
