Heaps to announce on Thursday
Most insiders have felt for a couple of weeks that it is going to be BYU. The timing--right before BYU's Junior Day--doesn't bode well for UW fans.
I have heard a lot of pro-BYU talk over the past few weeks. The three-year relationship he has with BYU Head Coach Bronco Mendenhall, as well as the QB coach, are going to be awfully tough to beat.
We will see what Jake has to say in the morning.

You might be right...
but it IS one day BEFORE BYU Junior Day. That might mean he wants to pick U-Dub now, so he doesn’t have to go to BYU and then pick the Dawgs.
But it doesn’t look great. Still, we’ll survive, so long as we get Scroggins or Montana or….?
It's not the end of the world
if Heaps goes to BYU. The Huskies will get someone else and kick BYU’s butt when we play them unless they bring the old WAC refs out of retirement
I am hearing Heaps will be in Provo on Friday for Junior Day.
I wish him all the best….UW will find somebody just as good or better. Sark is aone heckuva of a tutor of QB’s and everyone up and down the coast knows that.
No hard feelings
if Jake is going to BYU it isn’t because Sark didn’t try. His predecessor screwed the pooch
Well this kinda sucks...
Still holding out a glimmer of hope, but it doesn’t sound good.
Silver lining though is that Sark didn’t put all of his eggs in one basket. You never know, we could lose out on Heaps but end up snagging one of the other guys and they could turn out to be a better player in the end. Definitely wouldn’t be the end of the world if Heaps went to BYU.

Meh...
If we get him, awesome, if we don’t, ok
I think BYU freaks are the ones stressing out about it the most. If he enjoys hearing children’s songs sung in the stadium after winning a game he probly isn’t Dawg material.
If Sark can land another top QB like Scroggins or Montana, that obviously softens the blow a lot. But it’s still a psychological blow to lose the top recruit in the state – doesn’t look good, especially when you consider the number of top local recruits that the UW has missed out on in the last few years.
What makes it hurt even more is knowing that Heaps grew up a Huskies fan. I know Ty botched the recruitment of Heaps and Sark tried hard to play catch-up, but on the scorecard it still counts as a (the?) top recruit in the state going somewhere other than the UW. That needs to stop if we’re ever going to get back to where we want to be as a football program…
Disappointing, but it could be short lived.
I hate losing the top recruit in the state, especially a QB, but I wonder about a guy who would pick a Mountain West school over a Pac10 school. Say good bye to any major bowls Jake, you’ll never have a chance to see a BCS bowl or the Rose Bowl.
The good news is Nick Montana, I just read this article on espn:

It sure sounds like he likes Washington a lot more than I would have expected. The timing could be pretty good too, if Heaps commits to BYU tomorrow, and then Montana visits this weekend, it could only help having Heaps out of the way.

"Kick the tires and light the fires!"
Where will the announcement be made?
Some reports are saying that Jake will be making the ‘announcement’ from Provo.
If that’s true, it’s over.
He’s hardly gunna fly to Utah…and pick Washington.
Dang!
I thought for sure he was going to Washington! He hung around campus so much.

Best wishes
to a great kid who undoubtedly chose with his heart. We should hope that things turn out well for him, and congratulate BYU on landing a fine individual.
Now let’s move on.
What’s our status with Jesse Scoggins? Nick Montana’s coming into town this weekend. Do we have a strong preference on these two?
Oh, and by the way, BYU is on our schedule for 2010, 2011 & 2012. Those games should now be even more fun.
