Bothell TE Michael Hartvigson is a Husky

Bothell TE Michael Hartvigson committed to the University of Washington this weekend. Hartvigson is the type of kid we used to stockpile at the TE position when we were known as TE University. He is a real great pickup and will contribute significanlty over his five year football career at Washington.

He may just be the lat Washington athlete left on the list so expect the balane of the class betwwen now and next February to come from California and Hawaii.

I'd like to see them offer Iona and Marboe before they're done

with in state kids. Marboe is a nasty C prospect (rated #7 by scout.com) from Wenatchee. He is raw… but he’s a big body that with some good coaching could be something special.

And Iona is a DL kid who while also raw has a huge celing with his size and athletisisim (sorry for spelling). He may not qualify, but here’s hoping that we can pick him up late in the class if he can pull it together.

Marboe

Marboe will be camping at UW this month so they will have a chance to evaluate him a little bit more. Depending on who else they are looking at they could wait till this fall after they see him play a couple of games.

Bottomline is there is no hurry on Marboe since he wants to go to UW and is willing to wait till they offer.

Hartvigson

This guy is a very good get! He had offers all over the west coast. Sounds as if getting Nick Montana to commit was a huge selling point. One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that QBs have a very good relationship with their TEs. I think it may have something to do with great trust. That big dual assignment guy on the end has lock down the DE or blitzing OLB and he’s got to get freed up to run the hunt and hitch routes.

We’ve got to get back to utilizing the Tight End position! TE is HUGE! Having a quality extra blocker on the line, and having a go-to receiver is critical in 3rd down and managables. Never take the TE position for granted especially running out of the pro style offense- gurrenteed the NFL puts a premium on that position.

Welcome to HuskyNation Hartvigson! WOOF!!!

All I saw was purple
