Who is the fastest Husky?
Who is the fastest Husky and for that matter who is the fastest player in the Pac 10 conference?
You might be surprised to learn that Jake Locker is now running a sub 4.39 - 40 yard dash according to Coach Steve Sarkisian.
That is pretty fast for a guy his size.

I believe Curtis Shaw is the fastest Husky....
& Taylor Mays is probably the fastest player in the PAC-10. I read somewhere that last year he ran a 4.25 40 last year = sick! Jake running a sub 4.4 is incredible especially considering he’s probably asomewhere between 230 & 240 right now. Guys that big aren’t suppose to be able to move that fast.

The flea...
…is a speed merchant also.

Locker
With that size and speed he could be a killer at safety (I am NOT saying I want him to move) and I think he will get a shot at the NFL just on size alone. Maybe a slot back too. Great athlete

You want the ball in his hands
I think you want the ball in Jake’s hands as much as possible so QB is ideal.
I think Locker is one of the rare guys like Frank Gifford who could play about anywhere and do well.

I got a feeling...
if Jake played safety (I am NOT saying I want him to move) the ball would be in his hands quite often. : )

Jake is a freak of nature
I have no doubt the guy will be playing pro football and will go VERY early in the draft

As much as I want him to go high...
I think he’s got Pat White/Tim Tebow syndrome. I would love to see him project as a QB but likely he’ll be a position switch to Safety or RB and be taken somewhere middle to end of round 2. Most likely to a team that can take on a long term reward project (ala the Giants or Patriots of late).
This could all change of course now that Sark and Nuss are on his tail and molding him into a good NFL QB prospect. I still expect him to not go very high because he’ll end up at a position he has no experience in.

Hand timed vs...
…electronic? With all the hype about 40 times it’s unusual for guys to run that well at the combines. I think the fact that they use electronic timers eliminates the human factor and the times aren’t as fast as the ones you hear about.

If you’re wondering, they got the Nike Sparq guys up to do all their timing electronically. Check the vid. Coach Lewis is an animal.

Fantasy
I’m sorry but all college 40 times should be taken with skepticism. There is no one that I know of in the Pac 10 as fast as Chris Johnson (who runs a legit 4.2-4.3 Forty) .
At 4.25 speed you’re talking world class and you can see the difference. Watch Chris Johnson’s college highlights and you can tell he’s the fastest guy on the field.
Jake may run a 4.39 though I picture him a legit 4.5 guy with the 4.45 run every now and then which is damn good for a guy his size.
