Big Game Tonight

It doesn't get any bigger than tonight when conference leading Washington faces Arizona State at Hec Ed. With a victory tonight the Huskies will be able to put a full game and a half between themselves and the Sun Devils.

Washington hasn't won the league outright since 1953 and this team headed into the last two weekends of play has the best chance of any Washington team in recent memory to do exactly that.

I wouldn't say this is the best team Washington has ever fielded even if they do win the conference and go deep into the NCAA tournament. However they will be remembered always as the team that actually achieved the goal of winning a conference championship.

I like Washington's chances against anyone on their home court and as we saw in Tempe earlier this year the Huskies match up very well with the Sun Devils when they are running on all cylinders.

Frankly the Arizona game coming up on Saturday concerns me quite a bit more with their big three. Washington had no real answer for what the Wildcats were doing when they played last time in Tuscon.

That all being said the home court advantage in the Pac 10 is a huge equalizer and I expect the Huskies to sweep the series this weekend.

Agree about Arizona being more of a concern

Arizona State just doesn’t match up well against us. We have big bodies to throw at Pendergraph and long athletic guys who we can stick on Harden, and beyond those two guys ASU doesn’t have much. Behind their big 2, they are probably the least athletic team in the conference, whereas the Huskies are perhaps the most athletic team in the conference.

Talking of ASU, their future looks grim. How bad are they going to be next year when they lose those Harden and Pendergraph? They don’t have anyone on the roster now that can come anywhere near replacing the production of those two guys, nor do they have a particularly impressive recruiting class coming in. They may very well be the worst team in the conference next year.

Recruiting traction

What this season gives Sendek and ASU is some great recruiting traction for the future. I do agree that they will be down next year unless they have some absolute studs coming in who are ready to play.

It's about matchups...

…isn’t it? It’ll be interesting to watch how it all plays out. I guess the coverage for this game has been expanded to 60 plus million more viewers. It’s starting to heat up!

Going to my first game of the season tonight. I guessed pretty well a few months ago which game would be a good one to see.

I’m worried about both games this weekend, but the Arizona game more so. It seems like they really have had our number the last few years. Buddinger seems to have a career night or comes out of a slump every time he plays UW.

Hopefully the snow throws off both of the Arizona schools.

I know this is a ways away and off topic

but i am hoping and praying that UW gets put in the Philly bracket! They probably will go to Portland but man oh man i would pay a lot of money for those tickets to the Wachovia center. Already requested 19-20th off…getting really excited for it all.

Portland

I think they are a sure bet for Portland but anything is possible.

I don't think the Huskies could possibly miss the tournament

But if you guys bomb the last few games, esp. getting knocked out of the Pac 10 tournament early, you could be in that 6-8 seed range and then all bets are off as to where you’ll end up. I don’t think that will happen though.

I don't think so either...

especially at the Bank with some serious momentum starting to take over.

Yeah

Hard to argue with 14-1 at home, with the only loss coming in 3OT.

Every Game is BIG From Here on Out

Don’t kid yourself. Arizona State knows what is at stake tonight. If the Sundevils win tonight they inch closer to the Pac 10 championship. Not just us, but they have a very good chance of winning the league title too. Arizona is going to come in here and try to own the building, they’re going to come in cocky and full of energy. It’s our job to shut them down.

WSU is the in-state rivalry so we know good and well they aren’t going to want to get swept. Chances are if we are caught napping, Cougs could pull the upset- ask a Bruin fan. And Seattle U? Fellas if we drop a game to these guys it could cost us 2 or 3 seeds. Every game is huge from here on out. Take a deep breath …. now remember it’s one game at a time.

Go Huskies! WOOF!!!
