Lakes DT Sione Potoae to Washington
Washington picked up its second committment for the 2010 class today when Lakes DT Sione Potoae decided to commit on an umofficial vist to Montlake.
Potoae is one of the top recruits from the state of Washington in the upcoming 2010 class. Expect Washington to continue to be very agressive in getting the top in state recruits to commit early to build momentum for next year.
O'Dea FB Zach Fogerson committed last year to the old staff and is still committed even though he may end up taking a visit or two next winter. His brother Johri is currently on the Washington roster.

Very excited for this!
The more guys you get early the better it looks for the program later. They can now do their part to recruit friends and other kids when needed to. It creates a buzz kind of like “why did he commit there? Let me take a look at UW”. We MUST get Heaps too and this could be a big year for Sark and Co.
Lets go UW!!
6-3 285
and he is only 17!!! sounds like a beast in the making
Benches 400 already!
This kid is extremely strong for such a young kid. He’ll probably be putting up 500 by the start of the 2010 season.

whoa whoa whoa
that might be a stretch. 400 to 500 is a HUGE leap. But 400 in high school is VERY impressive.
Yes it is!
This kid is a beast! Times have really changed. I don’t remember any high school kid putting up much more than 300 when I was in high school.
Remember though, Napoleon Kaufman as small as he was was putting up 400 when he went to the UW.

WOO! HOO!
I have had a GREAT day today! This was aWesome news! I love it when things start coming together!
Question
What is a one or a three technique defensive tackle? This was a quote by Dave Miller, Potoae’s head coach.
A three technique
refers to where the tackle lines up. One is shaded on the center, two is in the guard center gap, three is inside shoulder of the guard. Here is a good diagram to explain it.
Oops..
Its been awhile. Actually, one is inside shoulder of the center, two is inside of the guard, three is outside shoulder of the guard. My bad.
Thank you...
…gosh it’s amazing to me how subtle differences of positioning an athlete’s body can make such a huge difference.
Nice to have the flexibility...
…of being able to play a couple of positions. So is the 1 gap guy a Nose Tackle? The 3 gap is a defensive tackle? It would seem that the 3 gap has to be quicker and the nose just has to basically anchor that center gap around the center?
I’m telling you guys, I remember the days when we couldn’t seem to bring these kids in. Now it seems like were picking them up left and right. Not a bad problem to have for Nick Holt and his defense huh?
Anybody notice anything wrong with this picture?
