Best Schedule we've had in awhile
Very do-able schedule. On paper it looks like a tailor-made schedule to entice Jake to come back. Their are a lot of winnable games here and most of our difficult games are home (minus USC, Oregon, & Cal).
I think game 1 at BYU is going to be huge to get us off on the right foot. We win that game, we could be 3-0 going into the USC game. Thank god Kong Suh is leaving for the pros!

Toughness Ranking
Any ideas on where this schedule ranks? With @ USC & Oregon, looks to be a tough one.
Purple in Pullman
non conference
well because of round robin scheduling everyone plays usc and oregon, but the non conference should still be fairly stout. probably not top ten because none of the three will likely be top-15 clubs, but the ‘huskers are probably a top-25 squad and byu will be decent. the ’cuse are shite but still i’d guess the rank would be around 10th- 25th depending on the strength of the pac.
I think he meant since we play at USC and at Oregon

BYU!
I am very excited for the BYU game! I am one of the few non-BYU Mormons in of all my friends so I’m going to be down there for that one! It’s going to be a lot of fun. Plus it should be pretty fun for coach Sark to open with his BYU Cougars!

I think we can win some game if Locker comes back
BYU- we just about beat them when we went 0-12.
Syracuse- at Husky Stadium = win.
Nebraska- at Husky Stadium, without Suh. Nebraska has no offense and without Suh they don’t have much of a defense.
I see 3-0 right there.
At USC will be tough, I have to count that one as a L.
Arizona State is sloppy bad and we get them home = W.
Oregon State breaking in a new QB at Husky Stadium, smells like a W.
At Arizona will be tough to call, but are graduating a lot of kids, will count this one both ways.
Stanford w/ out Gerhart at home is a W.
Does Locker and the Dawgs blossom into the talent or is is still potential during the week of Oregon? Have to count it as a L.
Ucla at home and I’m guessing the Bruins won’t be any better then they were this season, smells like a W to me.
How good will Cal be at season’s end? This year they stunk. I’m going to be bold and look at this game with purple glasses on and count it as a W.
WSU at home, on the road, or on the moon- we keep beating the Cougs until someone replaces Wulffy.
7-5 at worst or 9-3 at best. With that schedule we could easily go 8-4. Is that a possibility? I don’t think it’s a stretch. In Sark’s first year we won 5 games. That’s 5 more then we won the season before. 8 wins is only 3 more then 5. And if we’d taken care of business vs. Notre Dame, Arizona State, and Ucla this season, we would’ve been 8-4 this season. It’s not a stretch to think a 5th year QB in Locker, an entire team coming back with tremendous experience, and a coaching staff working hard to think of what could be. I think we win at least 8 games next season with that schedule.

I agree...
…I see 6-6 as reasonable w/ or w/o Jake. I also agree with Crazi that w/ Jake this could go as high as 9-3 without being unreasonable. If players continue to grow and learn, things could be very interesting if Oregon and USC have issues next season. Jake, if he becomes the Heisman type candidate, It could be special. Polk and Jake behind a decent OL and with the WR’s we have our Offense could be really good. The defense is going to be the question. The defense has to show the continued improvement the last two games brought. If the secondary can come into it’s own the defense will be good enough. Trufant and Long looked good. Coaching is going to really make a huge impact on where this defense goes!
6-6 after a 5-7 season
that isn’t much of jump in my mind. I am hoping for no less than 7 wins (8 with a bowl victory) next year with or without Jake.
But to lose the cornerstone of your program
is a huge setback. If we lose Jake this year, 5 wins will suffice for me as long as there is no drop off in production with the other players.
Year 3 is the real litmus test for Sark in my eyes. He’ll have his own Sophomores (and some Juniors with the late start)starting to work their way in the lineup. That could be a big picture glimpse into UW’s future with Sark.

In my mind that would be totally unacceptable
just a difference in opinion…
There’s a pretty significant gap between Jake and the rest of the QB’s on the roster at this point. I think we can shoot for 6 wins if Jake leaves, but much more than that is highly optimistic. With Jake, I think 8 wins is attainable.
If Jake leaves, Sark & Nussmeier are really going to be under the gun to get Fouch and Price ready to step up and give this team solid QB play. Price has good potential, but will be a RS-Fr with no game experience. Fouch has more limited potential, but has experience.
is Jake so central that he is the difference in two wins in a season?
… I know it doesn’t seem like a lot, but it is a lot. He probably is worth it, though – even for next year’s team.
Damn, my eyeball tastes good.
Sure, you don’t think so? Look at Oklahoma this year – don’t you think losing Bradford was a big part of them going from 2 losses to at least 5 losses?
If you have good depth at QB, then losing your main guy isn’t as critical, but when you have a big gap – yeah, I think a difference of 2 or more games is entirely possible at that position.
Oklahoma
They had a lot of pieces to fill this year and when Bradford went out it only compounded the problem.
I have faith that if Jake leaves Sark will have Price or Fouch ready for next year because that guy will have a whole other Spring/Summer Camp to get ready where as Bradford probably got most the reps and when he got hurt they had to thrust the back up in without propper practice. I also think Sark and Nuss together are the best suited duo to make Fouch/Price a star.
See, the problem though is I don’t think Fouch has the tools to be a “star” like Jake does. Price has more tools, but he’s young with no game experience.
If Jake leaves, there will be a dropoff in QB play, no question. And I think it’s reasonable to think that dropoff could be worth 2+ games.
I don't know...
…Marques Tuiasosopo was a question mark compared to Brock Huard and we all know how that played out. The reason I bring this up is sometimes it’s hard to quantify all of the facets of a good football team. If the defense gets markedly better and the offense improves, and is efficient, we’ll be fine.
Washington Husky Football-Undefeated 1991 National Champions 12-0!
Well, consider that the transition from Brock to Marques also coincided with a coaching change that was, at least for the first couple of years, a positive change.
The returning defensive and offensive players should improve an equal amount regardless of whether Jake returns, with the exception of the QB’s who would get less practice reps if Jake returns. So the difference between the team next year with Jake or without is essentially the difference between Jake and whichever backup would win the job if Jake doesn’t return.
I agree that there are reasons to think the rest of the team will improve enough that without Jake, it could still win 6+ games and go bowling. With Jake, expectations should be higher – how about 8 wins?
It’s a better schedule than we’ve had in a while. In an ideal world, we’d swap the Syracuse and BYU games – we’re more likely to beat Syracuse at home than BYU on the road, and it’s nice to start the season with some confidence. You’d also want to swap the UCLA and 2nd bye weeks so the 2 byes are spaced a little more evenly.
But all in all, a much better looking schedule than we’ve had in a while.
Psyched for BYU
But this schedule isn’t going to make me want to fly home to Seattle nearly as much as I was anticipating. Games I’m planning on going to now:
-BYU
-Cal if I can swing it… if I can get Thanksgiving week off it’s a good bet because I have to be in San Francisco for a Conference the week before that anyway… I’ll just route my flights through Oakland rather than direct to Seattle
But amazingly… there are no home games that I’ll want to really attend. Maybe Stanford?
Not like the Utah Jazz... it's about REAL jazz. Go Dawgs, Go Blazers, Go Tarheels!
Gettin my tix ASAP for the BYU game
homie works in the ticket office. hopefully I can wear my Locker Jersey and look down and see him on the field.
I predict 10 wins....
if Jake comes back.
How? We should run the table at home. That’s 6 wins. Road wins at BYU and WSU for sure gets us to 8. Then a road upset from amongst USC, Ore, Zona and Cal makes 9. Then a bowl victory…..10 wins!!!
why on earth do we play Cal so late every year?
is this just a 3 year quirk?
I think they're one of the teams more apt to moving games around
they like extra bye’s as well

I wonder if Cal will have second thoughts
About scheduling late season games against UW – probably safer if it is in Berkley
wish we could move one more of the 7 PAC 10 games in a row (2 Oct - 13 nov)
to later, ideal would have been Arizona to 20 Nov, but at least there are some byes now. I will withhold my predictions until the 18 of Jan at the latest, should have much better information by then.
UW vs Nebraska
could be game of the week. Kirk Herbstreet is on record saying he would love to do College Game Day at Montlake and if both teams are 2-0 that could be a perfect time. Two Powerhouse programs who had a down start to the new century on their way up! Very excited!
At least 7 wins
I’ve got UW beating BYU, Syracuse, ASU, AZ, UCLA, Cal and WSU
Losses are to SC, Ore St and OR
50/50 games are Nebraska and Stanford.
This is going to be a 7-9 win team mark it down.
I love the fact that this year the offseason program is going to be about getting more explosive which is going to make Chris Polk a nightmare to deal with as well as Aguilar, Johnson and Kearse.
Foster is going to get better. The DB’s are getting more experience.
We have Tokolahi, Ta’Amu, Crichtion who I expect to get better.
There's a link...
…at the official UW site. I think if you click on tickets it’ll give you a menu and then just click on the student ticket link.

So when tickets go on sale for the game in Pullman there should be a link in there to buy tickets?
If not we still got a ways to go before they’re on sale. How many tickets does wsu release to us?
Not sure about...
…student tickets but the University offers tickets first to the season ticket holders. I’m pretty sure students are offered a portion of the tickets wsu allots to us. Hopefully someone else will chime in on the details for student tickets.

By the way....
…those rival game tickets aren’t cheap! I couldn’t believe how those prices escalated when the rivalries became more heated! In the early 90s you could get a ticket for like 20 bucks. I looked over at the Husky Ticket Office as I walked by to go to my seats during the 2009 Apple Cup and tickets were listed at 70 bucks!
Washington Husky Football-Undefeated 1991 National Champions 12-0!
And the winners are?
Tolar wins the weightlifting award for the offense while Daniel Teo Nesheim gets the nod for defense. Tobias Togi wins for the “construction crew?” Not sure what that means but probably scout team. Jermaine Kearse get the Apple Cup big play award. GO DAWGS!!
Washington Husky Football-Undefeated 1991 National Champions 12-0!
You should be
able to buy them at GoHuskies when they make away game tickets available to season ticket holders next spring
I don't think they...
…do that until later but I could be wrong! I’ve been wrong once before! ;O)
