DE Andrew Hudson is a Husky
6'3 225 lb Andrew Hudson from Redlands East Valley HS in Redlands, California has announced that he has decided to a be a Husky. Hudson is one of the better defensive end prospects on the West coast and Washington has been on him for quite some time. He joins Ronnie Fouch, Marquis Persley, and Chris Polk who all went to the same high school on the Washington roster. He picked UW over Oregon State and Arizona.
He is the 22nd known commit for the 2010 class. Hudson is a real good looking athlete who was an absolute priority for the Washington coaches this year. Scout has him rated as a three star and the # 93 DE in the country.

Great pick up at a "need" position
He has the frame to get to 250lbs and look good doing it.
Colorado
Something caught my eye on their board and man those guys are NOT happy! I guess one of their RBs is transferring to Ucla. So glad we are in the Sark era!

Hawkins on the Hot Seat
I actually thought Dan Hawkins would have more success in Boulder by now. He is a crafty young offensive driven coach and the University of Colorado is a dam good job. Not to mention but with the Big 12 North looking pedestrian these days, I thought Hawkins to Colorado was the perfect recipe for success. Hasn’t happened…
I think it is safe to say that Chris Peterson may want to stay on at Boise State for awhile. Houston Nutt is the only Boise coach that has made it as a head coach coming from BSU. One thing I think that has bothered the Buf brass recently is Dan Hawkins relentless desire to push son Cody Hawkins as the starting Bufs QB. It is every coaches dream to coach his son in big time sports, but can backfire rather easily. In this case I think it did. Dan Hawkins is a fine football coach, but for some reason is not turning the corner in Boulder. Husky fans everywhere can relate…
All I saw was purple
Hudson is a very important pick up
Not a great year for DE’s in the West and he is one of the very best. So if we hadn’t have gotten him it would have been a coup for somebody else.
Is he...
…more of a pass rush (speed) specialist?

Pass-rush specialist
He’s definitely the speedy pass rushing kind of prospect. Very quick first step, long legs, and huge arms (check out his picture on Realdawg right now). I loved his video on Dawgman. He seems like quite a pickup for UW.
Andrew needs to put on some weight
At the BCS conference level- you won’t survive a season at DE playing at 225lbs. I see him in a couple years playing at the 240 to 255 range. This kid has star power written all over him. If his work ethic is great, he has the potential to be a kid that can eventually play on Sundays. I’ve been a huge lobbyist for Andrew Hudson for quite some time. He has no ceiling from what I see and if you want a daunting pass rush from the defense, you have to start with great play at DE. Andrew is a good one!
All I saw was purple
They're all 17
I was referring to his potential. Right now he is rather lean. He needs to put some weight on his frame in order to absorb Pac 10 level blows.
All I saw was purple
HE IS 17
He WILL put weight on his frame, it’s a scientic fact!

Biggins from ESPN had this to say – I had a chance to see Hudson in action earlier in the year when REV took on a talented Orange Lutheran (Calif.) team and he was the best player on the field. He’s very quick off the ball, has strong hands and is a high motor player who just keeps coming.
He knocked the quarterback out of the game in the third quarter and was in the backfield all night despite constant double teams. He even moved inside at different times in the game and made plenty of plays. Hudson doesn’t get mentioned as much as some of the other top players in the West, but he’s a very intriguing DE prospect
He's A Wrestler
I read that on some of his bio information. Those guys usually have an edge in the trenches.

That description sounds alot like DTN to me, exciting! Nice to see Sark continue pipeline to a very good program. GO DAWGS!

Great get for Sark's team and what a connection to East Valley
Redlands. They also got a highly rated volleyball commit from there in the last 3 months. Fouch’s mom is doing great steering the talent.
Inconsistencies
Its funny, I checked his bio on three different sites. One had his 40 at 4.7, one at 4.9, and I believe ESPN was at 5.17. Which one does the dart hit
In my opinion, I’d rather have a DE with a quick first-step than a good 40-yard dash time. Rarely will you have to run 40 yards to do your job as a DE.

Definately...
we’ve tired this topic out here…
Explosion is much more important than speed for all the O/D Line guys. Technique beats gifts almost everytime, and the kids we have coming in have the gifts…now they just need the technique to go with it.
That said…5.1 at his size is unacceptable for a DE. Even as a HS player he should be in the 4.7-4.9 range.
