So Beautiful!

After Kavario caught Jake’s pass to bring us to within 6 points, and while Eric was getting the point spread down to 5, I looked at my season ticket pals and said, “Now we need a miracle.”. When Mason crossed the goal line we celebrated with all others, and then I was told, “No more miracles for you!”.

Fair enough. But all true credit goes to our Team that NEVER GIVES UP!!!!

Why ration the miracles?

I don’t see why you or us other Husky fans should be limited to just one miracle play. Notre Dame seems to get one almost every week. I thought we had a chance to beat them last week, when it appeared that Touchdown Jesus had become Field Goal Jesus, but no, their luck held out. Why can’t the Huskies have a run of luck, too? I figure we’re overdue. The law of averages should be about to send us to a bowl game! :)

I believe that's Cort Dennison...

made the block near the 10 yard-line. Sophomore out of Salt Lake. I could be wrong.

Understandably...

There are plenty of Cats fans insisting that the ball touched turf. Some small part of the ball may have, but I still think the refs got the call right (the only instance of that all night?). Really muddling the issue is the fact that Zona’s cleats have black toe caps and soles.

Its always possible ...

… but something that close was not going to get reversed on the Dawgs after the replay drama of the week before. SW made sure of that. Game ball to our AD.

Damn, my eyeball tastes good.

It's the same thing...

…the stardard is “beyond any doubt”. So unless you see “conclusive proof” “beyond any doubt” that the call on the field was incorrect then the call on field has to stand. This is what galls me about the ND game! Don’t the refs know the frikken rules?! What is the criteria to be one? If people watching the game can get it right while they screw up, what does the tell you about the quality of officiating as well as the program?!

Victor Aieywa

That was the guy who caused the play. He jumped the bubble screen and forced the zona QB out of rhythm and threw the bad pass to his secondary option. Mason said he was in the area because he chose to gamble and be out of his position to make a play. I did read his comments however and he said he “stayed home” long enough to protect his zone coverage area. GO DAWGS!!

Wasn’t it Mason Foster who jumped the bubble screen and forced the QB to double clutch? Then Foster turned to follow the play when the ball was thrown, and the ball bounced directly back to him. Aieywa was going right at the receiver and was blocked.

Victor Aieywa

He jumped the outside receiver and forced the QB to go with the secondary receiver. That’s also according to the coaches, if you look at Big Tamu, he has to get some credit too. When you have a 350 lb beast in your face, it’s a just a little bit distracting. Ya think!?

It looks a little iffy. Did they review this? I didn’t watch the game—too busy tailgating after ours.

by ArbyOSU on Oct 12, 2009 2:57 PM PDT reply actions

They reviewed it

It looked like a good call…perhaps a slight corner of the ball hit the ground at the same time it hit the foot but it is too close to call.

by John Berkowitz on Oct 12, 2009 3:13 PM PDT up reply actions

Zona is whinning

they have pictures that “prove” that the ball hit the ground. There are discussions on the shadow of the ball and turf dust. They never mention why the ball bounced so high off the ground or explaining why the rotation or direction of the ball did not change. Clearly it hit the guy’s hand and then his shoe, if it hit the ground, where is the change of direction?

It might have hit the ground, but there is no conclusive evidence of that, no matter how hard you want it to be true. If the original call was that the ball hit the ground, I’m not sure that could have been overturned either. In any case, to quote a former and current coach in the Pac10, “scoreboard baby”.

The Call On The Field

Was a TD. Can you PROVE through video evidence that there is “NO DOUBT” that the ball hit the ground?! No, you can’t. Case closed, game over.

Prove?

I aw the photo’s and they were inconclusive. Now way could you reverse that call in the booth unless you are a Big East official.
