Huskies pick up four new verbals
Washington hosted 13 official visitors this Saturday and came away with commitments from at least four players. Wilson High CB Desmond Trufant and S Will Shamburger of St. John Bosco, DT Chris Robinson of Tustin, Calif., and WR James Johnson of Valley Center, Calif
Chris Robinson is a new kid on the radar who had previously verballed to Nevada. He is a kid that Nick Holt saw while in camp at USC.
Shamburger is teammate of Husky QB Keith Price who came on strong during his senior season. Recruiting experts are saying this kid is a real steal.
Desmond Trufant is the little brother of former WSU star Marcus Trufant. Desmond wanted to stay close to home and his older brother would have been a Husky too if he had been offered.
James Johnson's verbal was supposedly confirmed in a text message sent by his brother to one of the recruiting sites. He had no comment when interviewed at Dawgman and says he wants to discuss things with his parents first before talking to anyone.
DT Branden Warner of Compton JC (UCLA), DT Will Sutton of Corona, Calif, (ASU) and S Taniela Maka from Long Beach (UCLA) were surprise visitors that didn't surface until today. All have previously committed to Pac 10 schools but Sarkisian got them to take a look at Washington.
Warner is a four star JC recruit who will choose between UW, Tennessee, and UCLA. Looks like a head to head battle between Lane Kiffin and Steve Sarkisian on this one.
Maka is a LB from Jordan High in Long Beach who will likely end up at UCLA. UW is in on a number of linebackers his size.
DT Will Sutton visited this weekend and he has offers from ASU, Nebraska and UW. Sutton would be a very nice pick up for this staff but he is still very solid to ASU despite the trip.
OT Jeremiah Tofaeono from Las Vegas got offered on his visit.. He didn't commit on the spot but he is a good bet to do it during his in home visit.
Josh Moten is a soft verbal to Washington and enjoyed his trip but he will still visit Colorado next weekend despite being a strong Washington lean.
DE Andre Pulu of Federal Way, QB Keith Price of Bellflower, Calif, and DE Talia Chrichton from Long Beach, Calif, had all committed earlier this recruiting season.
Fresno S Nathan Fellner re-affirmed his commitment to UW during his visit this weekend. The nephew of Bo Cornell has played it smart during the recruiting process keeping his options open.
Garfield DT Deandre Coleman didn't visit and says he is solid to California.

Great Weekend!
This is staff is really getting after it. Nice to see this agressiveness after Willingham. That Robinson kid is well put together. I really like the buzz going on with Washington now.
Are you guys surprised at all of the defensive recruiting going on? I know that defensive tackle types can be hard to get so I can definitely see getting them when and if they’re available. I’d like to see a few offensive lineman in this class. We picked up three last year. I’m thinking we need at least that many in this class. I’m not worried though, this staff has really impressed me with their work ethic. GO DAWGS!!

Not sure...
Nice job by the Sark and Co. this weekend. If we can get Warner that would be awesome. Only time will tell…
Good Logic
UW is really having a problem getting quality OL to visit to they will take the DL guys and move a couple of existing DL over to the OL to balance things out.
True
Some of those big guys in the trenches can play either side of the ball. Hopefully we can get that big tackle Tofaeono. Offensive tackles are harder to come by, that Eddie Williams kid looks the part of a guard or center. Next season I think they’ll bring in more of the big guys. Any word on a kicker/punter? That position has to get better.

Sark
did more recruiting his first day on the job than the fraud did the first month. He understands recruiting will make or break him in the long run.
I agree...
…I’m really liking what I’m seeing and more importantly the recruits do too!

Recruiting Banquet
Are any of you guys going to that? I’m thinking about it, I have to drive over the pass which can be a bit dicey this time of year.

Little Off Topic

That this was an interesting blog by Bob C. Nice to see that we have some legit speed on this team. Now if we can only find a way to use it on the field…
Scouting bureaus
Hi John, any idea when the scouting bureaus start their ratings for next years recruits? Starting to get fun again being a Husky fan.
MEaningful ones in May
For the most part the most valuable ratings for the next class come out in May after the combines are completed.

Nathan Ware
John, have you given any thought about having a one on one with Nathan Ware around signing day. I think that it would be kind of a fun thing to get Nathans thoughts on the kids being recruited.
Nathan
I can ask him.
He would probably be ok with that.
Hopefully he will be enthused enough to come back and post a few things in the fall.
