Recruiting weekend
Lets talk a little about recruting for this weekend. The Husky staff is going to be very busy with up to 14 recruits including 2010 star Jake Heaps hitting campus this weekend. Heaps is on an unofficial visit which means tha the picks up his one tab while on campus. He did the same thing last weekend at BYU.
This is the latest and greatest list we currently have after perusing all three of the recruiting sites. That means there are around four guys still out there that haven't been confirmed as of yet.
One rumor surrounds Cal commit and UW decommit Deandre Coleman. If he isn't on campus this week you can probably expect one before it all ends as UW is still in the game with the big lineman from Garfield.
Another rumor out there is about a JC runnning back from California by the name of Andre Harris from El Camino JC. The kid is a stud and would give the washington backfield some much needed power.
UW is hitting the JC's hard so one or two other names are likely to surface by nightfall.

Recruiting Strategy
Aside from Heaps, it seems like Sark is bringing all the soft commits and very near commits this weekend.
The next 2 weekends after this one seem like a lot of guys who are just now coming onto the UW radar, which is perfect strategy.
If this weekend goes well, and a few guys firm up commits, as well as commit outright (Shamburger/Johnson/Trufant), it will create a lot of buzz for the off-the-radar guys coming in the following weeks.
Sark is not disappointing. I can’t wait to see what he could do with a full recruiting season.

What are the odds we can get these kids in?
Yeah good question...
…I’m a bit gunshy when it comes to JC guys. I think they’re going to be more guys coming in than this. The recruiting sites are scrambling to find out who all of the guys are they’re bringing in. A few more names are starting to trickle out though. Expect a few surprises, which is a good thing!
What's the weather like up there in Seattle this weekend?
I know there’s no more snow right but it’s not raining is it?
Rainy Seattle
You may know that and I may know that but believe me alot of SoCal recruits don’t know it. A clear Seattle sky and green surroundings will make a huge impression.
By the way, it’s been in the 80s all week in L.A. so the weather when they step off that plane and during theri visit will make a huge impression.
As the blog's weather expert . . .
Given I’m sitting in an office trying to figure out how soon the fog will lift so we can go flying, and I’m being 100% serious, I’ll throw in accurate weather report.
Currently the whole Puget Sound is fogged in, and has been for awhile. The good news is that there is no chance of rain, the bad news is the fog isn’t going to lift much. There might be a few scattered sun breaks this afternoon, but I wouldn’t bank on it.

Fog
So the fog could really mess up the official recruiting visits is what you are saying? Suggestion: show them the field at the 50 yard line. Husky Stadium is the grandest stage to play on in the Pac 10 Conference. Yes that included the Collesium and the Rose Bowl.
Here’s a question: Why would anybody want to play football for the Ucla Bruins? Their home field is the Rose Bowl and if you qualify for the Rose Bowl at seasons end, how boring is it to play in your own home stadium? It can’t be that exciting for the Bruins, can it?
That's a big IF...
…yeah and I would think it would take something away to be playing in your own stadium. I can’t wait for Husky Stadium to be renovated! Can you imagine actually being on top of the action rather than light years away? I don’t believe there are going to be view obstructed rows anymore. I think when they lower the field the fans will be well above field level but closer to the action. I may just want to have my seat closer to field level.
Sunny and Beautiful
Well the forecasters were wrong as usual and the fog burned off much sooner than expected. I just landed and the Seattle area couldn’t look better.
Crazi – Yes it is a grand stage, and it looks even more grand when you can see Mt. Rainier, the snow capped Cascade Mountains, and Lake Washington mirror smooth. Fog won’t mess up recruiting, but the sun sure does help!

Question of Husky Stadium renovation...
…If the field is lowered, wouldn’t there be water/drainage problems being so close to Lake Washington?
Sorry about my grammer...
…I must still be in a fog or something? We’ve got low clouds over here in eastern WA too.
Lowering the field
They are only going to lower the field by 8-10 feet. Water isn’t going to be a problem. They can’t go any lower than that because it would ruin sight lines in the upper decks.

In that case...
…do they then kind of alter the slope of the lower bowl? I imagine the first row won’t be like completely on top of the field but I hope they do eliminate the view obstructed rows.
They would alter the pitch
They would alter the pitch which is actually a blessing. By getting rid of the track and the moat they are able to bring everything closer to the field.

Recruits
Is there any word on the recruits on campus? Has anyone seen them on campus (is anyone on here an active student?)? Any new news is what I am looking for…or is it still to early? I get ver anxious…
Sunday....
Most of that type of news starts rolling out on Sunday night as these guys head home.

Weather in Seattle
Great day so far in Seattle. It’s about 12:00 pm and the sun is out. Pretty cold, but a great day to be walking around campus.
Realdawg
Some of the kids will text or call from their visits. Sometimes somebody texts or calls them.
