BYU's Road Woes

If BYU is going to contend for a national championship this year they need to start winning some non conference games on the road. The Mountain West Conference favorites haven't won a non conference road game in five seasons.

Husky Stadium is not an easy place to play but it is an easy place to get a ticket these days. Expect as many as 15,000 BYU fans to be in the stands on Saturday.

This article in the Salt Lake Tribune talks about how the Cougars feel about it and what they plan to do on Saturday.

Defensive end Jan Jorgensen called it a "flaw we've had," while quarterback Max Hall referred to it as a "nagging problem" at the conference football meetings last month. Coach Bronco Mendenhall says it "something that has been addressed, but not focused on."

Of course, the elephant in the room the 15th-ranked BYU Cougars occasionally refer to, but must conquer if they ever hope to climb into BCS territory and be taken seriously on a national level, is their inability the past five years to win a nonconference game on the road.
