New AD to be announced at 11:00 AM

Rumblings out of the University of Washington this morning are that the school is going to announce the hiring of a new athletic director today at 11:00 AM.

Here is a list of the presumed remaining candidates:

Bill Moos
Bob Stull
Chuck Nelson
Scott Woodward

understandable, but...

I wouldn’t mind that the selectee take Chuck under their wing to groom him to succeed them. If it’s a goal of Chuck’s to one day take the position…and I have no real idea if it is.

Woodward

T90- I think it probably is.

It is looking more and more like it is going to be Woodward, but it is actually a pretty closely held secret so nobody will know for sure until Emmert makes the announcement.

I realize that hiring the right guy doesn’t necessarily mean that I’m going to be excited by the hiring. I’ll listen to the press conference and see if anything sounds interesting.

I like it...

The guy has done great things at LSU and I dont know about you but they have a pretty good football team down there…he was the one who hired Saban.

But he wasn’t the Athletic Director at LSU, nor anywhere else. This is his first athletics gig, which is kind of a rare situation at a major university like UW, I’m guessing. His strength is going to be getting funding for Husky Stadium, but how he handles to day-to-day operation of the department is the unknown.

Frankly, if Emmert thinks he was the best candidate to do the whole job, then I’m happy.
