UW - Backtalk with Johnny B

Nathan and I once again get together on his blog to discuss this weeks game and make some predictions.

Nathan: OK, let’s do the game predictions. I already picked Oklahoma to beat UW 45-24 and Ohio State to beat USC 27-24. What’s your take on these two games?

John: This game has the potential to be the worst beating since Alabama in 1975. I am going with Oklahoma 51 – Washington 17. I think the Sooners jump off to an early 21 point lead in the first quarter and coast at will from there. I saw Ohio State play last week and wasn’t too impressed. This will be a replay of the Rose Bowl win over Illinois. I take the Trojans 42-17 in this one. USC has the best defense in the country and their offense is starting to click.

Nathan's picks for week three

Ohio State 27, USC 24
Baylor 34, Washington State 20
Arizona State 42, UNLV 13
Oregon State 37, Hawai'i 30

Oregon 45, Purdue 34
TCU 30, Stanford 23
BYU 28, UCLA 27

Friday Morning Notes

Chris Polk out for the season

Tyrone Willingham said freshman tailback Chris Polk will undergo surgery to repair the torn left labrum. The surgery and rehabilitation will sideline Polk the rest of the season and he will apply for a medical redshirt. A tough break, but this may be a blessing in disguise because it will allow him to be much stronger and still have four years left to play. David Freeman will be taking over the running back duties with Willie Griffin, and Brandon Johnson who returns this week after resting a calf injury.

Johri Fogerson

Johri Fogerson is going to be starting this Saturday beside either Nate Williams or Tripper Johnson. The true frosh from O'Dea has been impressive in practice and will get a baptism of fire against Oklahoma. Fogerson is an impressive athlete who could conceivably play both years if needed this season. If UW gets thin at TB he can always lend a hand with his Marcus Allen running style. Interesting things come out of Johri's mouth so look for him to be a media favorite over the next four years.

Tight End

Mike Gottleib will be back and you can expect him to get a lot of time in obvious running situations against the Sooners. His loss the past two games has been felt from a blocking perspective. Don't worry about Kavario, he will be out there doing what he does well and tha tis catching balls over the middle.
