Mike Bellotti Retiring at Oregon?

Oregon officials have scheduled a press conference for 3:30 p.m. and are expected to announce that football coach Mike Bellotti will become the new athletic director and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly will take Bellotti's place as head coach according to the Portland Oregonian.

I guess we will find out if it is true in the next 45 minutes. This has to be a shock to Boise State's Chris Petersen who was known to covet the job. We always knew that Bellotti would step down one day but we always figured that Petersen or Jeff Tedford would be first in line.

I think it just may

I think it just may but Petersen could be about out of time.

Wow, I hope this is true

because they probably could have got someone better than Kelly with Uncle Phil’s dinero.

Basically...

Kelly is now the coach in waiting, when Bellotti decides to step down. My guess (with no special info) is that Kelly will take over in two years.

Keeping my fingers crossed

Since it appears that we are not going to be able to get Kelly or Mora, I really hope that this news will enable us to pry Peterson away from Boise St. He has always been one of my top choices. I would love for the Huskies to play the exciting style of football that the Broncos do.

Boise State...

….plays some exciting offense. I have to admit their defense looked pretty good too against the smucks! They basically shut down the quack attack for 3 quarters.

A Non Event

This was pretty much a non event.

What it does is tie up Chip Kelly for a few years until Bellotti retires.

I wonder if....

UW or Syracuse forced this?

Syracuse

I think Chip would have been a shoe in for the Syracuse job.

UW really isn’t seriously looking at assistants even though a couple will be interviewed.
