Seto staying at USC

PrintAccording to Scott Wolf of Inside USC DB coach Rocky Seto has turned down the opportunity to become the DC at Washington.
The move doesn't surprise me because all Seto really knows is USC. He was a former Trojan player who has been coached and mentored as a coach by Pete Carroll. You can't blame a guy for loving where he is at.
Seto may be a future genius but I privately prefer somebody such as Rocky Long or Ron English who has been a round the block once or twice. When you are building a young staff it doesn't hurt to have a little experience in the leadership positions.
Stave Sarkisian is going to have a press conference at 12:30 PM Seattle time to announce the hirings he has made so far. Expect a surprise or two.

Ken Norton Jr was never in the running? It would be a promotion and I have heard he is a great recruiter…any word on him?

I though the same thing but the word on Ken Norton has always been that he won’t leave So.Cal. area for a job. Plus whenever DeWayne Walker leaves UCLA the Def. Coordinator position is supposedly his unless Pete Carroll offers him the USC DC first (he won’t, i’m sure Seto is next in line now that Petey convinced him to stay).
next in line could be a long way out
… as I can’t see Holt getting another shot at a head coaching job for a while considering the Idaho debacle.

Oregeon go? He was rumored at first and I think would be a GREAT get.

what sort of job Seto would take. With Sark being an offensive guy, you’d be able to run the defense you want, the way you want. It would be every defensive coordinators dream. Sounds to me like Seto maybe a little gun shy and not willing to take a risk to move up. He better be happy in his current position, doesn’t look as though he’ll be moving on or up for a very long time.

It really does make one wonder what Seto wants…maybe he was promised the same job at USC by Carroll. I did like Seto, although I am glad he decided to not come…we need coaches who want to be here, want to be part of changing things here. There are others that will be good….Ron English, Rocky Long, Ed Orgeron…of course I do not see why English would leave the same job at Lousiville to come here, unless he truly wants to be here.
Screw Seto, we want the real Rocky
exactly Lear Pilot, someone should have told Seto “no guts, no glory” if he doesn’t think he’s ready then we don’t want him!… he’ll be riding Petey’s coattails for awhile…
