Softy goes off on Willingham
Softy is blasting Tyrone this morning on his decision not to allow the 1978 Rose Bowl team to meet with the team before the Oregon State game. Ty said that he didn't get enough notice.
Softy is calling for Willingham for the immediate firing of Tyrone Willingham.
Calls Ty's tenure a miserable era.
You don't usually see that happen on the flagship station.

Big deal
He copped out last year when it really mattered. So what if he says what has always been true now that everyone is saying the same thing.
He knew Ty was a failure last year, but like most of the other suck-ups that work for ISP, he kept saying "give him a chance, while at the same time attempting to marginalize the people who were right all along.
Wow.
A radio host … going off and saying something controversial in order to get people to turn the dial or click through to their podcast? Hmmm, that never happens… right Mr. Limbaugh?

Flagship station
When it happens on the University’s flagship radio station by part of the game day team it is actually quite significant. You don’t see that very often.
Minny- No matter the topic you seem to have a defense for Tyrone.
what?????
How did you get from my comment to there? Forgive me for not being that impressed by a radio host calling out a coach. It is so unusual, I’m sure that I should be more alarmed (yes, that was heavy sarcasm).
You are in love with labeling me the Ty-Guy despite the fact that I REPEATEDLY call for a new coach. I just advocate a rational approach to his firing – focused on program stability until we can actually move on our new guy in December. I’m also not willing to vilify the man just because he turned out to be a poor coach for this team. He’s not the only one to blame for this mess, he’s still a fine human being and somewhere along the line he’ll find a coaching situation for which he will be well suited. He will be fired because he’s accountable for the lack of W’s, but he will not be fired because he somehow offended Husky nation by being a scourge and a scoundrel. I also won’t scapegoat him so that I can have the convenience of not holding anyone else accountable. You do plenty of that for the rest of us.
You are so obsessed with Fire-Ty that you have no capacity to think about anything else. You keep saying the same things over and over and slam anyone that has a remotely different view than yours. Really, you need to relax.

He has been a poor coach everywhere he has been. After taking us down the road we have been on, he will be lucky to coach for Wyoming. I think of myself as a good person but if i sucked at my job i would be fired…as i assume you would be too (not assuming you suck at your job but you get the point). Also he will be fired because he has offended Husky nation. He has distanced boosters and alumni. He used Kent Baer as a scapegoat so why not use Ty as one? I used to think he was a good man but he is making that a very difficult argument now…what has he done that makes him a good man or a good coach???

Actually you need to relax.
Firing Ty early, or asking him to resign would be great for the program. He has outlived his usefulness at Washington.
Big Dave.
Look, all I’m saying is that I’m not willing to vilify a man because he hasn’t done a good job. He should be fired. I know JB likes to call me names, but I’ve said this repeatedly on this blog. But, I don’t hate him. Just like I would not hate you if you did suck at your job. If you worked for me, I’d call you into my office and say, “I know you did your best, but its not working out. Good luck to you”. I do give him credit for some of the things that he has done. It is not enough. He’s not the only one who has us in the mess, but he is the guy that has to go. I get all that.
JB – really, namecalling now? I’m very relaxed and, as I pointed out earlier, very happy thinking about what next year will be like. Thus, I feel no emotional urgency to fire Ty now. December will be fine. It’s clean, it’s simple and it costs us nothing.

What has he done?
Not anything positive, that’s for sure.
The players today graduate at the same rate as the players five years ago. Players still get in trouble as much as they did under Gilby and during the last years of Neuheisel.
All I see that he’s done is foster a culture of losing, manifest in ridiculously low expectations from the majority of the fan base. He’s alienated alumni. He’s alienated boosters. He’s run off talented players.

Cost us Nothing?
Minny- I very much understand your arguement, and agree that it’s not necissary to vilify the man for his unsuccesful tenure, but wouldn’t the decommiting of our top recruits, and the possible decommiting of others such as California rising star QB Keith Price count for something we could lose by keeping him here? The sonner he is fired, the sooner a new coach can be looked for, and the sooner kids can commit to come play here.
Villification
Willingham isn’t being villified on this website.
He never has been.
Sometimes you need to look at the facts and make the right call.
