Rumor Mill
One of the more interesting things I read today was posted by Jim Basnight publisher of Husky Digest who is claiming that the coaching staff has already received their walking papers.
Very reliable sources that must remain anonymous have informed Husky Digest that the entire UW football coaching staff has been dismissed and that they will not be coaching for the University of Washington as of January 1st 2009. These sources are in close contact with the family of a member of the coaching staff and are very credible. This report has not been officially confirmed by anyone on the UW staff, but we feel that these accounts are accurate and it is our opinion that this action has taken place. Husky Digest does not cover football normally, but this piece of information is so important to Husky fans that we feel it is right to report it.
I find it hard to believe that they would do it right before a home game after a bye week, but stranger things have happened. We should have a good idea on the veracity of the rumor later today.

Husky Digest
John, just heard on KJR from Scott Woodward that the report from Husky Digest is simply not true. However, there was no other questions allowed to determine if part or all of the rumor was true.
Veracity?
Why would we have more clarification on the rumor? I would expect that this rumor is true and that the parties have a handshake on when the news will be allowed to go public … and I cannot imagine that such date will come before the Apple Cup. In terms of resolving this situation in a way that saves face for all parties and preserves the UW’s best chance at moving forward with whomever is the next coach, this seems like a very reasonable approach.

Not Surprised
Wouldn’t suprise me at all if the story is true. It also doesn’t say when the “deal” was done. Could have happened at the beginning of the bye week, and just now leaking out.
Either way, they’ll be gone at season’s end.

Agreed
Let’s get some one with experience.

If it was Kiffin...
… that would become a compelling reason to let Ty go now. Thus, Kiffin cannot be choice #1.

Not necessarily so
Just because Kiffin is available right now, doesn’t mean you would make the change right now. New Head Coach with no other staffing changes would be really stupid. Why would I work for you, when my boss just got canned mid season. Bring in a new staff and system mid season would be just as stupid.
I don’t want Kiffin, but that argument doesn’t make sense. They will give Ty the majority of season, even if Don James was coming out of retirement. Ok, they’d fire him for DJ, but no one else.
